Fake news isn’t just contained in the political news media. The world of sports journalism is also fraught with false narratives, and yes, there’s seldom any accountability for totally blown scoops. Let’s take the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who supposedly adopted a position of not wanting to go to the Trump White House to celebrate their win, much like the USA Women’s soccer team after they won the 2019 World Cup. Like in politics, "well-placed sources" said there would be no "Fly Eagles Fly" at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue if invited by Trump. Yeah, that was put through the shredder within 48 hours.
