The DEI Attack on Kamala May Not Work... But Don't Forget This Crucial Part

The race has changed. We were sailing for a win over Joe Biden, who was collapsing in all the crucial battleground states, was struggling to raise money, and didn’t have a prayer in energizing his base. That all changed when he decided to quit the 2024 race and promote Vice President Kamala Harris to the top of the ticket. The personal attacks began as soon as the switch happened; some were warranted, and others we needed to tread carefully because the Democratic Party was excited for Harris. Nothing gets the liberal base animated more than when they hear the GOP call Harris the DEI candidate.

These swipes are the sort of thing the liberal media and Democrats wait for Republicans to do. There’s no net positive with this attack—none. We have Democrats demoralized and hopeless; we want to keep them that way. If you're going to shoot up the Left with steroids, keep talking about this DEI stuff and her race.

Was Trump saying that Kamala Harris was Indian but became black funny? You bet. Should it be a permanent messaging piece for his campaign? No, but it’s sneaking its way into more venues, with some doubling down on questioning whether Harris is black. Sure, the media created this circus, with the Associated Press saying that Harris was the first Indian American elected to the U.S. Senate. But we don’t have time to go 12 rounds with the media and their bad behavior. There will be plenty of time for that if Trump wins the election.

Kamala’s record provides enough political ammunition to span a lifetime. There’s a tweet or video for anything she’s done. She’s backtracked on a host of liberal action items, like a federal jobs guarantee, Medicare for all, and defunding the police. And that’s just scratching the surface. Immigration and this laughable chest-beating regarding comparing her record to Trump’s is another laughable pivot, one where Trump should take her to school for failing to secure the border.

If one must hurl the DEI stuff, remember to throw in Joe Biden. His words, not ours, solidified this talking point, which could provide a segue into how Harris and Biden are one and the same. They both own the same record of failure regarding inflation eating into wage growth. Almost half the country says they’re poorer than four years ago. This legacy is co-owned by Harris, who might have known more about Joe’s mental decline, another line of attack that must be exploited. Swing state voters have trust issues with Kamala Harris. As someone who reportedly saw Joe every day, when did she notice the president’s mental health was in freefall?

I could do without the DEI stuff because there’s no net positive; it’s a wash as it prepares both sides for war. That’s precisely why I don’t like it. I want liberals to return to their feelings of finality, hopelessness, and outright dread over the election. Everyone knew Biden was heading to defeat, so he dropped out and couldn’t raise funds before that—but we’ll need a new playbook on Harris. And the DEI stuff isn’t playing well if we want to win. Make it about her; we lose. Make it about her record and how it will decimate American working families; that’s where you must focus.

UPDATE: Keep doing this, Trump camp.
