For all the criticism from leftists that MAGA supporters follow President Donald J. Trump like a cult leader, the support for the president pales in comparison to the way progressives treat Bernie Sanders and other socialists. Take Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example. During a rally in New York City where the young congresswoman endorsed the 2020 candidate, AOC told the crowd she didn't "recognize [her] inherent value as a human being" until she heard about Sen. Sanders.
"It wasn’t until I heard of a man by the name of Bernie Sanders that I began to question and assert and recognize my inherent value as a human being that deserves healthcare, housing, education, and a living wage," Rep. AOC said.

As pointed out by several on Twitter, AOC's remarks seem rather concerning.
Respectfully, this doesn’t seem healthy and it definitely isn’t a quote that should be highlighted. https://t.co/XOPvyGx01e

If you didn’t know your inherent value as a human being until Bernie Sanders came around you should probably see a psychiatrist.

I’ve been saying that AOC is a NPC. Now we have definitive proof! pic.twitter.com/HDmZ3MczXO
And yet you claim to be a life-long Catholic? If you really were you’d have known a long time ago that your dignity and worth came from God https://t.co/kkU4SY1ynm

Indeed, AOC is not only saying that she believes that the government gives her inherent value as a human being — it does not, God does — but that because of this the government should guarantee her healthcare, housing, education, and a living wage. There are countless examples around the globe of the misery and death that this sort of thinking produces (AOC, just Google Venezuela), but for the sake of this article let us turn it over to the great George Gilder for what happens anytime the government promises a "guarantee." Here is Gilder on student loans:
"A polls indicate that young people are increasingly estranged from capitalism. I think largely because of a great government effort to guarantee futures through the student loan program. $1.5 trillion of guaranteed money for students," Gilder told Mark Levin in 2018. "Those aren't really loans. Loans require a bank to scrutinize the borrower and it's an intelligent learning process in capitalism."
"This is guaranteed money for the university system, and the university system took the money and ran. Students ended up paying just as much as before, but all the prices went up faster than in any other product in the whole economy," Gilder continued. "It's one of the great scandals of recent decades, but it shows the effects of government attempts to guarantee stuff. You guarantee stuff, you stifle learning and you produce failure."
Indeed, AOC and Bernie's advocacy for socialism will produce nothing but failure. Here is the rest of Gilder interview with Levin to explain why capitalism is better for the human soul, the individual and society.
