The National Symphony Orchestra brings a uniquely American icon to center stage as they perform Dolly Parton’s Threads at the Kennedy Center. Audiences will be treated to stunning new orchestrations of her greatest hits, complete with live guest vocalists and a sing-along atmosphere honoring her unmatched legacy. Let’s not overlook a key driver behind this cultural renaissance: President Donald Trump’s renewed focus on patriotic arts and continued involvement with the performing arts center, which is ushering in a new era of bold, unapologetically American programming that celebrates our heritage rather than rewriting it.
On June 26 and 27, the Kennedy Center will debut "Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony," featuring the National Symphony Orchestra. While Parton will not sing during the concert, her greatest hits such as “Jolene,” "Coat of Many Colors," and "I Will Always Love You” will be heard by the audience to honor her impact on American popular music culture.

According to the Kennedy Center, the concert will include imagery of the American icon on screen, leading "audiences in a visual-musical journey of her songs, her life, and her stories.”
After years of woke, progressive shows at the Kennedy Center, President Trump has made a point to usher in unapologetically American-themed shows.
Kennedy Center President Richard Grennell said that while the performing arts center has been financially strained, it must prioritize financially viable programs—ones that sell tickets and cover their own costs—marking what he calls a necessary shift toward a "Golden Age of the Arts" focused on sustainability.
