'Beloved' GOP Texas Politician Stabbed, Husband Killed In Violent Attack

In a tragic incident that has left the community reeling, Republican Texas County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell was stabbed while her husband, Fred Mitchell, was murdered at their home on Monday. The early morning attack has had a profound impact on the community. Bobbie Mitchell, a longtime Denton County Commissioner and respected Texas Republican, was hospitalized following the stabbing, while her husband was killed. Their 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, was found at the scene and has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to pray for Mitchell and her family in a social media post, writing, “Please pray for Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell and her family.”

Mitchell is a seasoned public servant and a prominent Republican leader in Texas, serving as the Denton County Commissioner for Precinct Three since 2000. Before her time as commissioner, she was the Republican Mayor of Lewisville from 1993 to 2000 and served on the City Council from 1990 to 1993. Her leadership has been defined by a strong commitment to conservative values throughout her career.

Politicians and local leaders swiftly offered their condolences to Mitchell, calling on the community to keep her in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

“This news will have a profound impact on our community,” Rachel Roberts, a Lewisville police spokeswoman, said. “The City of Lewisville stands united in rejecting violence and remains committed to justice, peace, and the safety of all who live and serve here.” 

“My dear friend, colleague, and mentor Precinct 3 Commissioner Bobbie J. Mitchell has suffered a huge tragedy this morning,” Denton County Judge Andy Eads said. “I ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers as she recovers.” He also remembered Fred Mitchell as a “longtime friend” who “will be greatly missed.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Jared Patterson (R-Frisco) expressed sympathy and support for Mitchell, asking the public to join him and his wife in praying for her recovery and as she mourns the loss of her husband.
