No, a Bakery Did Not Refuse to Make a Cake for Whoopi Goldberg

Townhall Media

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg is playing the game liberals know best, which is playing the victim.

During a segment on the overly anti-conservative daytime talk show, Goldberg claimed a bakery refused to make her a cake because of her political beliefs.

The outspoken anti-Trumper said she placed her initial order at Holtermann’s Bakery, a 145-year-old family-owned establishment on Staten Island, because the owners do not like her “politics.”

“They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them," she claimed.

Yet, Goldberg, who refuses to mention President-elect Donald Trump’s name, still dug into the Charlotte Russe desserts that the bakery had ultimately delivered. The cakes were packaged in the bakery’s signature pink polka dot cups.

However, the bakery spoke out, contradicting Goldberg’s claims. They said they were having issues with their equipment and didn’t want to make a commitment they couldn’t keep.

“I said to Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now,’” Holterman said. “We have so many things going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930, so, when she called me, I had no idea [if we could] be baking everything,” bakery owner Jill Holtermann said.

She confirmed that someone picked up an order of 50 desserts despite having trouble with their ovens. Holtermann insisted that it had nothing to do with Goldberg’s political stance.

Goldberg agreed that people should shun family members who voted for Trump during the holiday season. She also blamed “uneducated white women” for his win.
