Cue the liberal tears— the historically left-wing Washington Post has declined to endorse the Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in 36 years, and the left is having a meltdown.
Washington Post editor Robert Kagan announced his resignation from the publication after it refused to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Max Tani, a media editor with Semafor, confirmed that Kagan had quit his job.
Kagan was not the only one with a heart attack over the WaPo’s groundbreaking decision.
Former Biden White House Adviser Susan Rice said she was “disgusted” with the publication, mocking its slogan “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” She called it the “most hypocritical, chicken shit move from a publication that is supposed to hold people in power to account.”

Just a few minutes later, the meltdown was still going. Rice took to X to respond to CNN’s Brain Stelter, who said that the WaPo’s editorial department said its owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, decided not to endorse in the race.

In addition, the outlet’s former executive editor, Marty Baron, criticized the WaPo’s decision not to endorse Harris as “cowardice,” warning that Trump would “see this as an invitation to further intimidate.”
The editorial board defended its decision to endorse a presidential candidate, saying they are “returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates.”
