Stevie Nicks Releases 'Abortion Anthem,' Credits Fame to Her Own Abortion

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, known for her mystical image and raspy voice, coined some of the most famous songs still played today. However, her latest hit is one she says will be the “most important” single she releases. Why? Because it pushes the left’s radicalization of abortion.

The new abortion anthem, “The Lighthouse,” was released on Friday. Nicks said she wrote it after the 2022 Dobbs Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

According to the song’s lyrics, women’s lives are “changed forever,” and their rights have been “taken away.”

Don’t close your eyes and hope for the best / The dark is out there / The light is going fast / Until the final hours/Your life’s changed forever / And all the rights that you had yesterday / Are taken away / And now you’re afraid / You should be afraid.

I have my scars, you have yours/ Don’t let them take your power/Don’t leave it alone in the final hours/They’ll take your soul, they’ll take your power. You should be afraid/ You’ve gotta get in the game, you’ve gotta learn how to play/You’ve gotta make a change/ you’ve gotta do it today.

Nicks, who credited her fame to an abortion she had in 1979, said she "would have had to walk away" from Fleetwood Mac if she didn’t get the procedure.

“All the stories that we tell about the necessity for women's healthcare and the necessity for a safe and legal abortion option for women is absolutely necessary,” she told People Magazine.

“It seemed like overnight, people were saying, 'What can we, as a collective force, do about this…' For me, it was to write a song," she continued in a statement. "I have often said to myself, 'This may be the most important thing I ever do.' To stand up for the women of the United States and their daughters and granddaughters — and the men that love them. This is an anthem.”

At the same time, a YouGov poll found that nearly half of Democrats believe abortion should be legal through all nine months of pregnancy.

Forty-eight percent of Democratic respondents said that “Abortion should always be legal” and that “There should be no restrictions on abortion.”
