As Townhall has been covering, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) keeps doubling down on the bizarre antics since he and then-Vice President Kamala Harris lost last November to President Donald Trump. They were the first Democratic ticket to lose the popular vote in 20 years. Walz may likely be running for president again in 2028, with many actually hoping he does, considering how awful and poorly vetted he was as Harris' running mate. To boost his national image, Walz has been doing town halls across the country, where he's made some bizarre and curious comments.
Guy covered how Walz is so vehemently opposed to Elon Musk that he made comments about him and Tesla that he had to walk back and stated that he "will never be bipartisan" with Musk. He also refuses to allow Republicans to attend these town halls. How does he expect to win over voters in a country that saw a rightward shift?

He then received a standing ovation from an auditorium full of Democrats—where wooden coins calling for Trump’s assassination were being passed around.
This is the Democrat Party.

Further, when it comes to Walz having people removed from his events, it's a bit too reminiscent of Harris having university students thrown out of her rally in Wisconsin last October – when she also skipped out on an in-person appearance at the Al Smith dinner benefiting Catholic Charities – because they dared to declare "Jesus Is Lord!"
Harris cackled about them being at the wrong rally, and they were removed, even pushed by other attendees.

There were plenty of marks against Walz when he was running for vice president, as Townhall covered at the time. This radical Democratic governor was particularly poorly vetted, if he was even vetted at all. The concerns about stolen valor, of course, dominated the campaign and ever since he was added to the ticket. Walz also met with a radical imam in Minnesota when he was running for governor, though he tried to downplay the connection, which didn't work out too well for him. His own electoral history didn't help the ticket, and sure enough, while Harris won Minnesota, as the Democratic nominee has done in every presidential election since 1972, it wasn't by much. Trump even won Walz's home county.

Harris lost all seven swing states, including Pennsylvania, which, with its 19 electoral votes – the most of the swing states – was particularly crucial. This is particularly noteworthy, given that Harris went with Walz over the commonwealth's popular and moderate (enough) governor, Josh Shapiro. There were reports that Shapiro had a bad interview and didn't want to leave the governorship for a number two spot, but it also can't be ignored that he is Jewish. When a Shapiro pick seemed all but certain, progressives lashed out and demanded Harris go with another pick, with Walz being among those suggestions.
For all of the claims about "Minnesota nice" and a sort of Midwest "folksyness" to him, Walz turned out to be quite the jerk. He was actually the one behind the effort to call now Vice President JD Vance "weird," which may be another reason why Walz was on the ticket. He also doubled down on referring to Trump supporters as Nazis for daring to attend a campaign rally at Madison Square Garden days before the election. Now, he's going after Musk and blocking Republicans from his town hall events.
It's also worth adding that when it comes to these town halls, Walz hasn't bothered to hold them in his state since he became governor, which was in 2019.
There's one unbelievable moment in particular that makes it abundantly clear that Walz is not the candidate Democrats need to win in 2028. After this, Republicans are cheering for his candidacy.
"Our strength is our diversity," Walz claims at the start of one clip from such an event. "We've been talking about this for years as a country of immigrants! And we let them define the issue of immigration. We let them define the issue on... DEI. And we let them define what woke is! We got ourselves in this mess because we weren't bold enough to say, 'You're damn right we're proud of these policies,'" he said to applause. "We're gonna put 'em in, and we're gonna execute 'em!"
NEW: Tim Walz says Democrats are losing elections because they’re not pushing hard enough in favor of DEI, wokeism, and allowing illegal immigration.

Wow, this guy is brilliant and totally right. He should run in 2028.

Tampons for every man in America!
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) March 28, 2025
The Democrats have found their platform. https://t.co/BBdDXgwRYz
Sure, Democrats weren't "bold enough" on wokeness and DEI. That is why Trump made gains with men, including men of color, who typically vote Democratic, until now. Then again, Walz is the person Democratic allies in the mainstream media tried to make the face of masculinity, so this claim, laughable though it may be, isn't all that shocking.
America is done with DEI and wokeness, which Trump is moving full speed ahead on dismantling. It's also laughable that any Democrat – and Walz isn't the only one to do so – would bring up immigration when the issue was particularly bad under the Biden-Harris administration and likely would have continued to get worse under a Harris-Walz administration. Whether he was running against then-President Joe Biden or Harris, Trump led on immigration in the polls, which was often a top issue. It's dropped in level of importance, but that's because Trump has gotten border encounter numbers to record lows after they reached a record high in December 2023, before the month was even finished. The issue remains particularly popular for Trump.
Speaking of encouraging Walz, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was among those doing so. He shared the clip in a quoted repost that also mentioned "Tampons for every man in America!" As governor, Walz had tampon machines put into the boys' bathrooms.
When it comes to this lack of self-awareness, Walz continues to post footage of himself at town hall events on X, even when he has so much to answer for. One such post about Fort Bend, Indiana, made a quip about members of Congress not holding town halls when it's because they've been infiltrated by Democrats, something Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) himself spoke about last week, even bragging about it.
Even more ironic is that again, Walz is blocking Republicans from his town halls, the kind of events he won't even hold as governor.
So great to see all of you in Fort Bend!

I’m sorry your Congressman won’t host a town hall, but I was honored to be invited to speak in his place. pic.twitter.com/UiWtpvlXbt
Harris performs the best out of any other Democrats in the polls we've seen so far for 2028, though that may be because she's the Democrat freshest in the minds of voters. She may also run for governor of California in 2026 instead. A CNN poll from early last week showed that in an open-ended question where Democrats were asked which leader "best reflects the core values" of the party, only 1 percent said Walz. Nine percent said Harris, while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was the person who received the most support, at 10 percent. However, 30 percent still gave a response that included no person.
Has Walz shown at all, outside of these town halls, that he's learned anything? Not really. Earlier this month, he was asked by CNN who the leader of his party was and if it might be Harris. He couldn't say, but rather eventually gave something of a non-answer about that being up to the voters after several awkward pauses.
Polls show that the Democratic Party is very much in disarray, not merely because of the record-low approval ratings but also because the American people, including their own Democratic voters, aren't too happy with them right now.
