Why Are These Far-Left Democrats Rooting Against the United States?

The Democratic Party is in tremendous free fall, especially with Republicans controlling the White House, Senate, and House, and the U.S. Supreme Court having a 6-3 conservative majority. But that hasn't stopped the party's most far-left members, who, unlike other members, are in safe seats, from making it worse on themselves, their districts, and the party as a whole by speaking out against not just the other side of the aisle, but America as a whole.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) may forever be known for his dalliances with Fang Fang, a Chinese spy, as well as for allegedly farting on air during a television appearance on MSNBC. He also ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2020. But more recently, Swalell posted his support for the Canadian anthem last Thursday before the U.S.-Canada hockey game to conclude the Four Nations Cup.

While some attendees booed the Canadian national anthem, others ended up showing support. "We need more of this," Swalwell posted. He even cursed in what was almost certainly a reference to President Donald Trump and his quips about making Canada our 51st state. "We cannot let one giant a**hole tear two friends apart. We are bigger than him. And our friendship will outlast him," Swalwell continued. The congressman, posting from his official account, did not censor the offensive word.

The American national anthem was booed before the previous game between the U.S. and Canada. America went on to win that first game, though they ultimately lost the final game in overtime last week.

Swalwell made no such posts about our national anthem being booed, nor did he make any posts congratulating our hockey team after its win from his official account earlier this month, just as he didn't wish them well ahead of last Thursday's game.

It's not just posts about a hockey game, though. Swalwell took it a step further before and since posting about the Canadian national anthem. Swalwell and other Democrats have had a fixation on supporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, especially as Trump seeks to negotiate an end to the Russo-Ukrainian war. The third anniversary of the start of the war came on Monday, with Russian President Vladimir Putin having been emboldened enough to attack under the particularly weak and ineffective Biden-Harris administration, especially when it comes to foreign policy, and especially after the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump, just like many in his administration, as eloquently explained by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has become a bit irked with Zelenskyy in this process. That hasn't been acknowledged by Swalwell, though, judging from his recent posts, including one from Monday night.

Beyond a quip about Zelenskyy not being "a dictator" because "Trump doesn’t suck up to him," Swalwell sided more so with Ukraine rather than the United States regarding a Monday resolution at the United Nations.

Sharing how the United States opposed a nonbinding resolution from the UN, Swalwell noted that the United States had "joined" the Axis of Evil. A headline from Reuters also spoke to the Security Council's position, "UN Security Council adopts neutral US stance on war in Ukraine as Trump pursues end to conflict."

The resolution passed without support from the United States, but Swalwell and the obsessively anti-Trump group of Republicans saw it as fodder to throw a tantrum about the Trump administration.

We haven't even gotten to one of the most notorious members of the Democratic Party, though.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is known for making headlines and earning Community Notes context for her crazed takes. She hasn't just spewed anti-white rhetoric, but anti-American rhetoric. She spoke to the same topics that Swalwell did while taking it a step further.

Crockett didn't merely applaud the Canadian national anthem. She actually shared she was rooting for Mexico and Canada against the United States. This didn't concern the hockey game but focused on Trump protecting our country with retaliatory tariffs. These are tariffs, by the way, that he announced before he even officially took office, and agreed to delay after meeting with Canadian and Mexican leaders. Crockett's remarks during her interview with "The Breakfast Club" became a trending topic on X.

"The fact that I'm rooting for Canada and I'm rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild," she noted, as it indeed should be when it comes to "rooting" for a foreign power. Crockett's reasoning is because "they are really the ones that are speaking truth to power right now. They can see what it is, and they were like, 'we are not messing with this crazy regime from Mar-a-Lago,'" though she didn't even pronounce the president's Florida property correctly. She went on to add, "and basically calling them thugs. That's what it is! But I'm like, 'y'all knew who he was when y'all elected him, so, don't act surprised," throwing up her hands.

Crockett actually posted her support for foreign powers more than a week ago, in a post where there's plenty to unpack.

Not only did she refer to Trump as a "wanna be [sic] King," but she also referred to "his Queen," likely referring to Elon Musk. The congresswoman also claimed that they were "rooting for our enemies." She also even claimed that the duly elected president "is a national security risk & embarrassment & MAGANIACS are the only ones that can’t see it," insulting the president's supporters not for the last time in her post. She concluded her post by asking for good measure, "MAGA, can y’all find Greenland on a map?"

Just like Swalwell posted about Monday's UN vote, so did Crockett. Again, she communicated supporting other countries over her own. She even began by noting, "Let me make this abundantly clear" during one of her many posts from Monday when sharing a screenshot from The Hill about that opposition from the United States. Again, it was a nonbinding resolution, which passed even without support from the United States.

From there, she emphasized, as if she hasn't done so enough, how "this administration keeps embarrassing & endangering us on all levels." In all caps, she went on to add, "I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE with standing with RUSSIA! I am still standing with Ukraine, President Zelenskyy, & the Ukrainian People! FULL STOP!"

Notice how there's nothing about standing with the United States, Americans, the people she represents in Congress, or our own president.

Swalwell, who represents California's 14th Congressional District, won reelection last November with 67.8 percent of the vote, compared to Republican Vin Kruttiventi's 32.2 percent. His district had a D+23 rating in 2023, according to the Cook Political Report's Cook Partisan Voting Index (Cook PVI).

Crockett represents Texas' most blue district, the 30th Congressional District. She won reelection last November with 84.9 percent of the vote, compared to Libertarian Jrmar Jefferson's 15.1 percent. The Cook PVI had the district at D+27 for 2023.

Laughably, Crockett even has some advice for the Democratic Party. As Amy Curtis at our sister site Twitchy covered, Crockett spoke to MSNBC about "amplifying those things" that Democrats are working on. She spoke to a need "for us to communicate" and finding "a communication lane," referencing members of Congress, as if her anti-white men, anti-American rhetoric could actually be regarded as helpful and make her worthy of someone taking advice from.

"I do think that it is, it is something that we struggle with, we know right now," Crockett continued, making a point not to blame her own party members, but rather Musk and X, as she ranted about there being an "ecosystem" of "disinformation."

Clearly, these members likely don't have to worry about winning reelection, at least not any time soon, so long as they want to keep running for that seat. But again, these antics surely aren't helping the rest of their party, and time will tell if Democrats as a whole get it together in time for the 2026 midterms.
