Bill Clinton's Speech at the DNC Was Tragically Ironic for These Pro-Life Activists

On Wednesday night, former President Bill Clinton spoke at the DNC. Hillary Clinton gave her own remarks on Monday night. The 42nd president's speech was tragically ironic in plenty of ways, including when it comes to the various allegations of sexual impropriety against him. It also has to do with the issue of abortion, which, once expressed by the Democratic Party as a desire to be made "safe, legal, and rare," is now promoted ad nauseum up until and even after birth, and paid for by taxpayers.

While Clinton signed onto the "safe, legal, and rare" mantra, he also signed the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act in 1994. While Democrats may have been pro-choice on abortion at the time, they've since ramped up their views to bring us the most pro-abortion administration with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

There were also other ways in which Clinton wasn't actually a moderate on the issue. Not once, but twice, he vetoed legislation known as the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which outlaws an abortion performed late in pregnancy in which a child is partially delivered and an abortionist then ensures that child's death by crushing the skull or sucking out the brains. The bill was vetoed in 1996 and 1997, though Clinton's successor, former President George W. Bush signed the law in 2003 and it was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court with the Gonzales v. Carhart decision in 2007.

Bringing this to the present day of the Biden-Harris administration, they're Department of Justice (DOJ) FACE Act against peaceful pro-lifers praying at abortion facilities as they block entrances.

Throughout the Biden-Harris administration, everyday Americans, including grandparents and those in poor health, have been prosecuted under the FACE Act and sentenced to years in prison. Clinton also appointed one of the judges to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia involved in the sentencing, Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, who mocked the faith and poor health of one of the activists, 59-year-old Heather Idoni, as her husband asked for mercy from the judge. Idoni was sentenced to 24 months.

More recently, while the DNC was taking place, more pro-lifers activists were convicted. This includes an 89-year-old survivor of Soviet prison camps, Eva Edl.

The Daily Signal's Mary Margaret Olohan and Leif Lemahieu shared more on Edl's story and the other defendants involved in a case from Detroit.

As Lemahieu wrote:

DETROIT—A group of Christian pro-life activists, including an 89-year-old survivor of a communist prison camp in Eastern Europe, face over a decade in prison after they were convicted on Tuesday in a federal trial in Michigan.

A jury found Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Joel Curry, Justin Phillips, Cal Zastrow, his daughter Eva Zastrow, and 89-year-old Eva Edl guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the FACE Act. Edl was forced into a camp as a young child by Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito before fleeing to the United States.

The seven were prosecuted by the Biden administration, which has been using the conspiracy against rights charge, originally designed for the Klu Klux Klan, to go after pro-life activists. They face over 10 years in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines upon sentencing. Sentencing is pending ongoing back-and-forth between the defendants and the Department of Justice as the judge considers several motions filed to dismiss the case.

In contrast, there's the pro-abortion extremists that have committed violent actions against pro-life organizations, pregnancy resource centers, and churches. We especially saw an uptick in 2022 after someone leaked a draft of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision which was used to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The DOJ made headlines for giving plea deals to violent pro-abortion extremists, which had previously gone unreported. Attorney General Merrick Garland was also heavily criticized for how he was so slow to take action when it comes to the plight of targeted pro-life organizations, as well as the conservative justices.

Harris will almost certainly be even worse. She's already shown us as much. She made abortion a major part of her speech on Thursday night, and it was also likely her most shameful lie.

As we mentioned early this morning in coverage of Harris' full speech:

The worst lies from Harris came when she brought up abortion, with the Democratic Party officially supporting abortion on demand up until birth without legal limit and paid for with tax dollars.

"Friends, I believe American cannot truly be prosperous, unless Americans are fully able to make their own decisions about their own lives, especially on matters and heart and home," Harris said.

The Dobbs decision that Harris criticized allows the people to decide their abortion laws through their state legislatures. Some, like California, allow for abortion up until birth. The Democrats want that in all 50 states, under a bill that Harris promised to sign.

The Trump-Vance ticket sees abortion as a states issue, but Harris claimed that "as a part of his agenda, [Trump] and his allies would limit access to birth control, ban medication abortion, and enact a nationwide abortion ban with or without Congress."

"And get this," she said, egging the crowd on, Trump "plans to create a national anti-abortion coordinator and force states to report on women's miscarriages and abortions." USA Today took issue with such claims.

The bill in question refers to the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), which supporters claim will supposedly codify or restore the Roe v. Wade decision, but it will actually take it a step further by making abortion available in all 50 states up until birth for any reason without legal limit.

Moments before in that speech, Harris also made a claim regarded as "misleading" by WMUR 9. She demanded that the crowd "consider" what Trump will do, which includes a supposedly "explicit intent" from Trump to "jail journalists, political opponents and anyone he sees as the enemy."

Not only has the Biden-Harris administration gone after those like Edlbut Harris was a particular bully against pro-lifers during her time as the Attorney General of California, a role her successor, Xavier Becerra was all too happy to take on. This includes going after pro-life journalists, like David Daleiden, a citizen journalist who has been releasing footage of Planned Parenthood executives trafficking aborted baby body parts.

Daleiden nevertheless still continues to put footage out there, as Madeline covered earlier this month

Becerra is also part of the Biden-Harris administration, as the Secretary of Health & Human Services, though he was just barely confirmed.

Becerra not only continues the pro-abortion crusade, he also has feigned ignorance and lied about that partial-birth abortion procedure ban, especially when being questioned by Congressional Republicans

Clinton also mentioned Harris and her pro-abortion record during his speech, notably how "she’s been our leader in the fight for reproductive freedom."

When it comes to the future of this FACE Act being weaponized against peaceful Americans, members like Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) have called for repeal, and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) has also demanded accountability from Garland on the data to do with the FACE Act.
