Exclusive: NRSC Shatters April Fundraising Record with $12.2M Haul

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) posted a huge fundraising haul in April, nearly doubling the previous record. The GOP’s Senate arm brought in $12.2 million in the month of April alone; this figure brings the committee’s total fundraising this year to $41.8 million, and leaves the NRSC with $37.8 million in cash-on-hand. This haul represents the NRSC’s best April fundraising month to date; the previous record was $6 million, set in April of 2014.

To give context to this fundraising haul, the NRSC also outraised both House fundraising committees, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC); the House committees raised $11.4 and $11.3 million in April, respectively.

Led by Sen. Todd Young (R-IN), the NRSC hopes to keep Leader McConnell’s Senate majority in November, with competitive seats in Arizona, Maine, North Carolina and Colorado to defend. Democrats need to flip three or four Senate seats, depending upon which party controls the White House; Republicans can also flip the vulnerable seats of Democratic Sens. Doug Jones (AL) and Gary Peters (MI).

The NRSC has outraised its Democratic counterpart, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), consistently during this cycle while bringing in no debt. The GOP's Senate arm managed to break fundraising records during the partisan impeachment trial for President Trump, and now during COVID-19.

“These are incredibly challenging times for everyone, but our team at the NRSC hasn’t allowed it to deter our efforts to make sure Republican senators have the necessary resources to compete in important elections this fall,” NRSC communications director Jesse Hunt told Townhall.

Record-breaking fundraising, coupled with a message that resonates with the American people, positions the NRSC to successfully defend the GOP Senate majority in November.
