Gun control advocate turned DNC vice chairman David Hogg has never been anything but controversial since he entered the public spotlight. After all, there's a certain level of disgusting involved in using the bodies of your dead classmates as a soapbox to talk politics.
But since he stepped into his role at the DNC, it's ramped up quite a bit, including using email lists for personal gain. But things might be getting worse for Hogg.
How so?
No one knows but Hogg, and he's trying to engage in a little battlespace prep to counter whatever it is.
Everyone in our party says they want to start winning again, and they do—but that simply will not be possible with our current set of leaders, too many of which are asleep at the wheel, out-of-touch, and ineffective. As a result there are likely going to be stories in the next…

...few days and weeks about me and Leaders We Deserve that will aim to destroy my reputation in order to weaken this effort. Many of them will be lies. Many of them will be contortions of the truth because people want to maintain the status quo even though it is not working. We can not afford to do that. We're not going to let that happen.
"Contortions of the truth" shows us just how much that Harvard education paid off, doesn't it?
Of course, there's no indication of just what Hogg is talking about, which is probably kind of the point. However, it does pique one's curiosity to wonder just what news is going to come out.
Considering that his use of donor email lists for the organization he runs and gets paid by wasn't preceded by any such statements, it seems likely we're looking at something far more severe.
It was once said that the kind of thing that could derail a political career is a dead girl or a live boy, but Hogg is part of the modern Democratic Party. It's unlikely either would create massive problems for him politically, especially with the media on his side. Well, the dead girl might, but we also likely would have gotten wind of that already.
Instead, it's something else.
If Hogg thought the cryptic warning would serve to prime supporters to disbelieve whatever news comes out, he failed to account for the fact that now his opponents likely have email alerts set for his name so they can get wind of whatever it is Hogg is concerned about as soon as it becomes public.
As a result, it looks like the former state college reject turned Harvard alumnus is likely to get a taste of the Streisand Effect, where he's drawn even more attention to something he'd rather people ignore.
Honestly, I'm here for it. Considering the amount of stupidity he's put into the universe over the years, it's nice to see the possibility of it coming back to bite him in the butt is kind of fun.
And if it doesn't happen, then shame on him for teasing like that.
