Democrat Gov: I Won't Allow Trump to Take Illegal Aliens 'Off the Streets'

Ever since President Donald Trump assumed office, a slew of Democrat leaders have indicated that they will not comply with some of his policies.

This includes an executive order prohibiting transgenders from competing in women’s sports and using their locker rooms. But, another hot-button issue is immigration.

While some so-called “sanctuary city” leaders have said they’d comply with Trump’s mass deportation plans, others have not. This week, one Democrat governor stated that she would not allow Trump to rid her state of illegal aliens.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in an interview with MSNBC on Sunday that she does not intend to “allow” federal immigration authorities to “just take people off the streets” in the state.

“I reached out to the president again because there is so much I need to deliver for New York and New York City in particular,” she said. “I need to get Penn Station done and make sure we have money for the Second Avenue subway, which is so important.”

“I want to make sure that we have an understanding on immigration that says we’ll help you when you have serious, violent criminals you need to get off the streets,” Hochul continued. “I’ve always said that. We’ve done that under the Biden administration, but we’re not going to be there to allow you to just take people off the streets and split up families.”

So far, Trump has deported hundreds of illegal alien criminals, including members of violent gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13. Many of these illegals were rounded up in so-called “sanctuary” states.
