Boris Johnson Releases Video Message After Getting Discharged from the Hospital

After a week in the hospital and three nights in intensive care, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was diagnosed with the coronavirus last month, has been released from London's St. Thomas's hospital. He will be recovering for a bit at Chequers before returning his duties at 10 Downing Street, per the advice of his medical team.

"I have today left hospital after a week in which the NHS saved my life, no question," Johnson said in a video message after his release.

He specifically thanked two nurses who were by his side for a critical 48 hours of his hospitalization.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who Johnson asked to deputize for him while in the hospital, remains in charge of the government.

Leaders around the globe cheered the prime minister's improving condition.

Johnson's pregnant fiancee, Carrie Symonds, got very candid about the ordeal.
