Clinton might be running for mayor of New York City. No, she’s really not going to mount a campaign. Well, according to Daniel Halpern of The New York Post, formerly of The Weekly Standard, there’s a 50-50 chance that Clinton mounts a mayoral bid:
Hillary Clinton is seriously considering a run for New York mayor, according to a major city political insider, who claims she’s “50-50.”Supermarket magnate John Catsimatidis said he talked to the failed Democratic presidential nominee, and came away convinced she may try to resurrect her political career by challenging Mayor Bill de Blasio this year.
“I spoke to her about it, but she didn’t indicate or signal to me [whether she would run]. She didn’t say never, she didn’t say no. In my personal opinion, it’s 50-50,” the billionaire owner of Gristedes Foods told The Real Deal real estate blog Monday.
Mr. Catsimatidis said that he would hold off mounting a mayoral bid on his own until Clinton makes a decision. Then again, you have Virginia governor and Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, saying that the former secretary of state was done with politics, and that she was not interested in running again. Yet, he was definitely talking about national office. In a Politico article about how the Clintons are figuring out why they lost to President Donald Trump, it was mentioned that the former first lady’s friends laugh off the rumors about her mounting a mayoral run, noting that she’s not really up to diving into another campaign. Let’s hope so. At the same time, there has to be some pro-business, pro-law and order, and maybe pro-school choice Democrat (like Bloomberg*) who can primary and boot Bill de Blasio, right? And I’m being realistic here; a Democrat is more likely to replace De Blasio than a Republican.

*Yes, I know Bloomberg campaigned for mayor as a Republican, but we all know that he was pretty much a Democrat, nut one who was pro-law and order, pro-business, and pro-school choice.
