Former Vice President Mike Pence and President-elect Donald Trump had a strained relationship following the outcome of the 2020 election. This past election cycle, Pence did not endorse Trump in the race against President Joe Biden, and later on, Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Several times, Pence has indicated that he is proud that he served as Trump's vice president the years he was previously in office.
Now, ever since Trump prevailed in the 2024 election, conservative pundits have questioned Pence's thoughts on Trump's victory and the officials he has selected to partake in his Cabinet once he enters office.
On Tuesday, Pence said that he is “very encouraged” by the president-elect’s Cabinet picks for his administration.
"Conservatives need to understand that we're part of a broader coalition. Now, we need to do our jobs,” Pence reportedly said at the Dispatch’s post-election summit, per The Hill.

"I am very encouraged by the early appointments by the president-elect,” the former vice president added.
"The nature of leadership that he practices is one of getting inputs from all sorts of different sources," Pence reportedly added. "I think they're off to a good start."

It started when Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) was selected to be Trump’s secretary of state, as Rebecca noted. Then, Trump picked Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

On Monday, Trump announced that Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, along with former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, would lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement,” Trump said in a statement shared on X.
“It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time,” he added.
