Acting Labor Secretary Laughs When Asked About Americans Who Remember Being Better Off Under Trump

According to the left, you’re delusional if you think you were better off during the Trump years than you are under President Biden. You’re mistaken if you remember that gas was cheaper when you went to fill up during the 45th president’s time in office, that inflation was not hitting your wallet in the way it is under the current Democratic leader, and that the 30-year fixed mortgage rates under the last administration still allowed you to plan a move.

During an interview on MSNBC, acting Labor Secretary Julie Su responded to a question about the recent jobs report and what she would say to Americans who, having lived through the “COVID era of Donald Trump,” think they were “better off than [than they are during] the recovery era of Joe Biden.”

"I mean, I say it’s unfortunate that some people try to peddle a story of nostalgia for something that just wasn’t true," she responded. "I say that — I mean, look at the numbers, right? The numbers don’t lie.

"You know, the last president kept talking about an infrastructure week that never materialized. President Biden has delivered on an infrastructure decade, where we’re seeing projects, shovels hit the ground in communities all across the country, and it’s just — you know, it’s irresponsible to suggest anything else and, you know — I don't know what to say about that," she added, laughing.

The RNC was quick to point out some of the numbers that "don't lie."

While the left took a "victory lap" after the March jobs report, "looking under the hood" tells a different story, according to Alfredo Ortiz, the president and CEO of Job Creators Network.

"Approximately, half of all jobs created last month came in unproductive government or quasi-government healthcare sectors," he said in a statement. "Full-time jobs continue to decline, while part-time jobs are on the rise. The Main Street labor market is far weaker than the topline numbers or the conditions on Wall Street or K Street suggest."
