Bernie Sanders: 'Cardi B Is Right' on Social Security

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) endorsed some political commentary from an unlikely source Wednesday – rapper Cardi B. The senator tweeted a quote from Cardi B arguing that FDR is "the real 'Make America Great Again' President because of it weren't for him, older Americans wouldn't even get Social Security."

“Cardi B is right,” Sanders wrote, arguing for the need to strengthen social security.

The rapper’s quote comes from a recent interview in which she told GQ about her passion for political science and her love for FDR.

Just last month, Cardi B received a lot of attention on Twitter for an (explicit) rant about the lack of government transparency with taxpayer dollars. Cardi B also caused a stir last week with her comments about choosing not to have an abortion.

Some on Twitter encouraged Sanders to address Cardi B's issue with taxation. Others accused him of pandering.

However, Gavin Newsom, the Lieutenant Governor of California, encouraged the GOP to "listen to Cardi B."
