Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar Blame Trump for Iran Shooting Down Ukrainian Airplane

"The View's" hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar joined the chorus of liberal pundits and Democratic politicians by blaming President Trump for the Iranian military shooting down the Ukrainian airplane.

The airplane flew out of Tehran's international airport the night their military fired dozens of ballistic missiles at bases in Iraq that house American troops. The attack was in response to the U.S. military killing Iranian general and terrorist leader Qassem Soleimani. The Pentagon said the strike was necessary because Soleimani was planning on carrying out more attacks against Americans in the region.

Host Sunny Hostin asked Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) if he was briefed on any specific attacks when the military presented their intelligence reports last week.

"No, I didn’t hear reporting that four embassies were targeted and 'here’s what we think and when we think it’s going to happen.' It really was much more like something the Secretary said and then tried to walk back. Secretary Pompeo acknowledged the other day we didn’t know precisely where, we didn’t know precisely when," Schiff said. "That directly of course contradicts the idea that the president is putting out there that we knew four specific embassies were targeted.

Schiff said he did not see any intelligence reports that justified the strike, especially since Iran targeted Americans in the aftermath.

"But the risk I think to our personnel has gone up, not down, and I don’t think it was justified by the intelligence, at least not the intelligence that I’ve seen," he added.

"That Ukrainian plane would still be alive," Goldberg said.

"The people on that plane would still be alive today," Behar said in agreement.
