The CCP 'Inflicted This Virus on the World': Navarro Dismantles Bill Gates' Defense of China

Tech billionaire Bill Gates thinks that placing blame on the Chinese Communist Party for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people because of the Wuhan coronavirus is not important right now, but as the economy continues to collapse across the globe, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro says China must be held accountable.

In comments made during a CNN interview on Sunday, billionaire software magnate Bill Gates criticized the leadership of the United States for being too slow to respond to the threat of COVID-19. But when asked whether the CCP was responsible for the pandemic by concealing the nature of the virus that originated in their country and deceiving the entire world about its threat, Gates said placing blame was not important.

"I don’t think that’s a timely thing because it doesn’t affect how we act today," Gates said about possibly holding the CCP accountable for their actions. "You know, China did a lot of things right at the beginning, like any country where a virus first shows up."

China, in fact, misled the entire world and the World Health Organization into believing the novel virus situation in Wuhan was contained and did not pose a threat to the world. They allowed people to fly in and out of the region as citizens were infected and died and said nothing until it was clear that the virus had spread to several other countries. Several Chinese whistleblowers who tried to alert the world to the threat of COVID-19 mysteriously disappeared. The Chinese government has maintained that the virus is contained in their country despite evidence that tens of thousands of citizens have been cremated in secret and continued government-ordered lockdowns persist.

Bill Gates conceded that China may have misstepped in the beginning of the pandemic, but spent the bulk of his time discussing how "poorly" the United States did responding to economic devastation.

"They can look back and say they missed some things. You know, some countries did respond very quickly and get their testing in place and they avoided the incredible economic pain. It’s sad that even the U.S. Which you would have expected to do well did poorly. But it’s not time to talk about that." Gates then characterized discussion about the CCP's lies that lead to at least three million cases and countless deaths as "a distraction" when we should be talking about global unity.

"This is the time to talk about the great science we have, the fact we’re in this together, fixed testing, treatments, get that vaccine, and minimize the trillions of dollars and many things you can’t dimensionalize in economic terms that are awful about the situation we’re in. That’s a distraction. I think there’s a lot of incorrect and unfair things said, but it’s not even time for that discussion."

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro minced no words in his condemnation of the Chinese Communist Party during a Monday morning interview with Fox News. Asked to comment about Gates' flippant response to China's responsibility for the destruction of countless lives, Navarro got right to the point:

"China spun that virus. They hid it for six weeks. They could have contained it in Wuhan. They didn’t.

"They seeded the world with, this with hundreds of thousands of Chinese getting on aircraft to Milan, to New York and other places during that six week period what they did was they vacuumed up the world for personal protective equipment. Over 2 billion masks, depriving public healthcare workers around the world from the defenses they need. And today China is profiteering basically from this situation.

"Bill Gates, I’m all for innovation, but we have to hold China accountable and now China is even flooding us with these bad tests. So, Mr. Gates and I will differ on the need to hold China accountable. That’s certainly the case. Because the Chinese communist party basically inflicted this virus on the world. And we should never forget that here in America."
