UPDATE: The Democratic National Committee is now reviewing the charges against their deputy chair Keith Ellison.
"These allegations recently came to light and we are reviewing them," the committee told NPR. "All allegations of domestic abuse are disturbing and should be taken seriously."
A former DNC representative did what the current leadership hadn't done in hours and weighed in on the domestic violence charges against Rep. Keith Ellison.
"The party has no choice but to suspend him at a minimum until they figure out what's going on," Former DNC communications director Luis Miranda said. "Frankly, it would be malpractice not to. We've made it clear we're going to take these accusations seriously, at a minimum. We set too high a standard not to take this seriously."

The Democratic National Committee has yet to speak up about the disturbing domestic abuse charges against its deputy chair Keith Ellison, which have come to light just a few days before the Minnesota primary for attorney general. The silence has not gone unnoticed.
First of all, former White House Press Secretaries Ari Fleischer and Sean Spicer want to know what's up with the double standard. Where is the media on this? Is it because Ellison, a Minnesota representative who has served in Congress for six terms now, is a Democrat?
It’s great to be the DNC. If Ellison were a Republican, the press would have knocked over the doors of the RNC demanding a statement. But the DNC’s co-chairman? No comment from the DNC. No feeding frenzy from the press. https://t.co/hqDDA7yLZz

It's not like these are minor charges. The sons of Ellison's former girlfriend Karen Monahan alleged in a Facebook post over the weekend that they have video proof Ellison once dragged their mother by her feet from a bed and called her a "f***ing b**ch." More of the specific allegations below.

Ellison denies the charges. It must also be noted that Monahan has refused to release the tape that shows the supposed violent act. Yet, groups like UltraViolet, a left-leaning women's organization, are demanding he resign from Congress.
"We believe women," wrote UltraViolet executive director Shaunna Thomas on Monday. "We believe Karen Monahan.”
