Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding Date Formally Announced

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be wed on May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace announced on Friday. The pair announced their engagement late last month, and the location of the wedding was confirmed shortly afterwards.

Prince Harry and Markle have been dating since mid 2016, and made their first public appearance as a couple about a year ago. Markle is an American actress best known for her role on the television series "Suits." She announced earlier this year that she would not be returning to the show after this season, fueling rampant speculation that an engagement was imminent.

This is Markle's second marriage, which sparked questions as to whether or not Queen Elizabeth would be able to attend the wedding. (The Queen is also the head of the Church of England.) Kensington Palace announced that the Queen would indeed be in attendance.

The date of the wedding caused some minor hand-wringing among sports fans, as it is the same day as the FA Cup final. (And it puts Prince William in kind of a tough spot.)
