Fearing Overturn of Roe v. Wade, Hollywood Gears Up to Release Pro-Abortion Movies

Hollywood film directors have begun production on several pro-abortion movies they say will help change the minds of viewers when it comes to women’s reproductive rights.

“We need to retell the story of women, because younger women don’t know how hard women have fought to have control of their own bodies,” said founder of Women and Hollywood, Melissa Silverstein.

Cait Cortelyou, an independent filmmaker who is currently developing a movie titled “Ask for Jane” about a pre-Roe v. Wade underground abortion network, said making her film became a “revolutionary act” after the 2016 election.

“It felt like that the universe was saying this is the film I have to make,” she commented.

Amazon Studios announced in May that another film titled “This is Jane” starring Michelle Williams about women who provided abortions in the years leading up to Roe v. Wade will soon start production.

However, conservative filmmakers like Nick Loeb are also currently producing films that tell the other side of the story.

Referring to the media coverage of his upcoming movie titled “Roe v. Wade,” Loeb told the Washington Post, “They don’t write our point of view. They only write what they want to write.”

Loeb said he is baffled as to why no one has made a movie about the legalization of abortion in America.

“It is the most controversial case in U.S. history, and it’s the most controversial political topic, social topic ever. I just couldn’t believe it wasn’t a movie.”

In his film, Loeb portrays a young Bernard Nathanson, a doctor and co-founder of the National Abortion Rights Action League.

“Dr. Bernard Nathanson, he was the biggest abortionist in history,” Loeb said.

“He committed over 70,000 abortions and was leader in the pro-choice movement. He realized that he could commit an abortion under a sonogram and realized this is actually killing a human being and he has a major conversion and becomes pro-life and becomes a major leader to protect and fight for life.”

Cortelyou, who expected Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 presidential election said she “thought we would be living in a very different time,” adding “I had hoped this film would come out and it would be historical relic. It’s telling a story that’s so chillingly relevant.”

Critics argue that President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States could essentially erase abortion rights in the years to come.

“We are at a critical moment in history,” writes Brigitte Amiri of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project.

“President Trump has vowed to appoint Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade… But we can’t just limit our focus to the question of whether Roe will be overturned. The right to abortion could also be eviscerated if the court upholds dangerous restrictions on abortion — even short of an outright ban.”

Referring to the pro-abortion films now in production, Asha Dahya who is the founder and editor of GirlTalkHQ said she believes the films are a positive thing.

“My first instinct is to say it’s a good thing. With safe and legal abortion access hanging in the balance, films have a way to challenge people’s perspectives in a way activism cannot,” Dahya told ABC News.

Although Loeb’s film has drawn much criticism, it has so far raised $318,663 of its $1million goal.

“Many documentaries have been made but no one has had the courage to make an actual feature film, a theatrical movie about the true story,” the site says.

Notable actors who are listed as starring in the film are Jon Voight and Stacey Dash.

The GoFundMe Page says viewers should not be taken off-guard at the pro-abortion agenda in Hollywood.

“Hollywood only wants you to hear their version of the story — in fact, there are 3 movies currently in development that take a pro-abortion stance. But you shouldn’t be surprised. Hollywood has always had an agenda to influence Americans to accept abortion, even if they have to re-write history to do it.”
