Saturday, April 5, 2025, was the day Democrats/Liberals/Progressives/Anti-Trumpers rallied across the country in something they called “Hands Off!” rallies. Hands off what? you say. I’m glad you asked!
Apparently, according to their handy website, “Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy, and our basic rights.” The website goes on to say that President Trump, Elon Musk, et al. “want to strip America for parts—shuttering Social Security offices, firing essential workers, eliminating consumer protections, and gutting Medicaid—all to bankroll their billionaire tax scam. They’re handing over our tax dollars, our public services, and our democracy to the ultra-rich.”
That’s brilliant. Let’s look at two of the programs that these leftists claim are being decimated by Trump and DOGE – Social Security and Medicaid.
How many times have we heard Democrats talking about how Republicans want to take away the Social Security benefits of older Americans? It was such a tired trope that stories of evil Republicans wanting to swipe Grandma’s Social Security check seemed to become as much a staple of campaign season as robocalls, campaign radio commercials, and roadside “Vote for Me!” signs. In the 2012 presidential campaign, the Democrats even depicted then-Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan pushing an old woman in a wheelchair off a cliff in a venal attack ad.
And yet Democrats are decrying Elon Musk and his DOGE team for uncovering massive fraud in the Social Security system, which is seeing billions of dollars scammed from the system by millions of foreigners ineligible for benefits. They also exposed the massive theft of Social Security numbers, as well as foreign citizens being assigned Social Security numbers who then illegally vote in American elections. Gee, what party do you think these folks are voting for? Inquiring minds want to know. (Hint: It’s probably not for the elephants.)

This short interview by Fox News’s Steve Doocy of DOGE volunteer Antonio Gracias is a must-watch by every sane American citizen. Mr. Gracias is a very wealthy businessman who is the founder, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer of hedge fund Valor Equity Partners, with over $16 billion in assets under management. Mr. Gracias, like all the DOGE team, starting with Elon Musk himself, had much to lose and nothing to gain personally by agreeing to audit the federal government in Donald Trump’s effort to restore it to a sound footing and continuing financial viability.
In a stunning revelation during the Doocy segment, Mr. Gracias is seen giving a presentation on stage, which depicts a graph showing that in 2024 alone, 2.1 million illegal aliens received Social Security numbers, as opposed to 270,000 in 2021. The total number of people who came to the United States illegally but possess Social Security numbers now exceeds five million, he tells Doocy, obtained through an “automatic system.” He also discloses that a Social Security employee sent himself via email over 400,000 Social Security numbers, which is still being investigated, but he described it as “clearly nefarious.” He also noted that the illegals were tapping into virtually all the federal benefit programs, and 1.3 million of these illegal aliens with the Social Security numbers were on Medicaid. He says that thousands of these people, DOGE discovered, are also on the voter rolls, and many are voting.
The key to these discoveries is that President Trump signed an executive order allowing DOGE to employ technology that enables the various government computer systems to “talk to each other,” which they hadn’t been able to do before. Gracias estimates that DOGE has already saved the government “north of $10 billion” from its discoveries at Social Security.
In an “All In” podcast, Gracias expanded on the findings of his team. He refutes the argument that all these illegal aliens are paying into the system through taxes, noting that many are on unemployment, many are criminals and some are even on US terror watchlists. That is obscene.
But why should we be surprised at their criminality? Some “progressives” opposing the anti-fraud work of President Trump and his DOGE team, like those attending their “Hands Off!” rallies, are sporting T-shirts emblazoned with Elon Musk’s image with crosshairs placed over his face. There is a reason that Musk employs a private team of 20 top-flight and highly compensated security professionals, including medical specialists, drawn largely from the ranks of the Special Forces to guard him 24/7. These individuals were deputized by the US Marshals Service in February 2025 to give them certain authorities not accorded other private security guards, such as carrying weapons onto federal properties.
In the world of financial crime, an area I used to investigate in a prior life, one asks the eternal question: Cui bono? Who benefits?
Looking at the rallies, with their slick website, their professionally crafted signs, and their highly coordinated disbursement at a reported 1,400 locations across the country simultaneously, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that a LOT of money and organizational talent were poured into this operation. Who would fund such a nationwide enterprise to protest a group of highly successful businessmen volunteering their time and talent to audit the federal government and expose massive fraud and waste?
The Justice Department should consider setting up a task force to address that question. I say “Hands Off!” of American tax dollars by miscreants.
