Typically, January 20th is one of the coldest days in Washington, D.C. and the Presidential Inauguration this Monday promises to uphold the norm: forecasters predict the high will be in the low single digits and dangerous wind chills (which might parallel the Ice Age in the minds of those attending the oath of office ceremony for our 47th President Donald J. Trump) have upended the historically outdoor location.

But on the Salem Media Group news program THIS WEEK ON CAPITOL HILL with Tony Perkins,  U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dispels the notion of a so-called Ice Age and instead promises a “new Golden Age in America” under the unified government headed by Donald Trump.

“There’s a chill in the air but a warmth in our hearts over this Inauguration of our 47th President,” Johnson states. “We cannot wait to get Donald Trump back in the Oval Office and begin our great new work.” Johnson adds: “The momentum has been building for a long time and the American People gave us a mandate last November…handing Republicans control of the House, the Senate and the White House.”

The unified GOP control of our government is already playing out in positive ways that are laying the groundwork for the Trump “Make America Great Again” agenda. The U.S. House already has passed the Laken Riley Act—cracking down on criminal illegal immigration; on Friday the U.S. Senate alsoadvanced the same legislation with a full Senate vote slated for early next week.

On THIS WEEK ON CAPITOL HILL, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) says that if her bill had been enacted before a violent illegal alien attacked and murdered University of Georgia student Laken Riley, she would still be walking among us today. The mandatory detention provision in the Laken Riley Act, Britt contends, is just the opening salvo in ending the failed immigration policies of the Biden/Harris years. “To have this win for President Trump—and this win for the American people—is just the start of many great things that are to come.”

Add to this the relatively smooth sailing—so far—for Trump nominees to the Cabinet including Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, Pam Bondi as our next Attorney General plus Marco Rubio as replacement for Biden’s criminally inept Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the Washington landscape appears poised for a startlingly positive overhaul. It is clear the hourglass has run out on the wokeness and weaponization of the Biden years, and from Capitol Hill to Main Street USA you can literally feel the exciting changes coming.

Speaker Johnson has concluded that the American people “had enough over the past four years, suffering under the disaster that was brought about by the Biden/Harris administration in almost every area of public policy. President Trump received 77-million votes last November, and House Republicans garnered 75-millon…a record for us. Now we intend to turn those mandates into common sense action for all Americans.”

Speaking of action, the President-elect was quick to respond to the doomsday forecasts for a frozen tundra in Washington, D.C. on Monday: he announced that since he doesn’t want any of his hundreds of thousands of supporters, guests, foreign dignitaries or the law enforcement personnel protecting them to be exposed to severe cold temperatures and sub-zero wind chills he has instructed that Inauguration ceremonies be moved inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda…same venue used by Ronald Reagan for the second Inauguration  of his Presidency.

Understanding that the venue change will disappoint tens of thousands, Trump directed ticket holders and supporters to gather instead in Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena for live, closed circuit viewing of his swearing-in, the oath being delivered to Vice President JD Vance and all the other ceremonies. Following his Inaugural address, our 47th President will then travel to the Capital One Arena and join the crowd in person to thank them for their ongoing support.

Anyone want to lay odds on whether or not the ever-unpredictable Donald J. Trump might even drive into the arena in the famous garbage truck that helped him seal his victory in the battleground state of Wisconsin? Led by a phalanx of McDonald’s workers?

Stay tuned.
