Note to the Left: Don't Start Anything You Can't Finish

The idea of leftist violence isn't exactly new for any of us. We all remember the "Summer of Love" in 2020 after Saint George Floyd died during his final arrest, this time for forgery, and everyone on the left lost their bloody minds.

But then they settled down after the election because they were in charge again. They referred to themselves as the grown-ups, as if they didn't just have an epic temper tantrum that left almost every major city in flames.

Their side botched everything and alienated Elon Musk, a long-time supporter, who threw in with the Trump campaign.

We saw two assassination attempts against Trump during the presidential campaign, then domestic terrorism against Tesla dealerships and vandalism of privately owned Teslas without a concern even over the owner's personal politics.

What's more, Democratic leadership like Sen. Chuck Schumer won't denounce the violence, but he will denounce Musk for trying to stamp out waste, fraud, and abuse.

And it gets worse.

Townhall's own Sarah Arnold reported on Tuesday that a study found that 55 percent of Democrats think assassinating President Donald Trump is justifiable.

In other words, violence in service to the cause is righteous.

The problem is that they're on the road to starting something they're not going to be able to finish.

Their thirst for violence comes only because they haven't really faced repercussions for it thus far. Sure, some people have been arrested, but a lot of people who are celebrating this don't seem to understand that. The media isn't really amplifying those arrests, so they're ignored.

And I suspect that, in time, they'll escalate it.

There will probably be more plans to assassinate the president. Hopefully, those plans get thwarted by law enforcement, but I won't be surprised if at least a few get close enough to be a real threat, though I suspect the Secret Service won't be as careless this time around and will do a better job of dealing with would-be assassins who do get that close.

Still, sooner or later, I suspect the left will step it up.

Should that happen, they'll regret every decision they've ever made in their lives.

President Donald Trump has built a team around him who, for the most part, have seemed to buy into his agenda and goals. That means the full power of the Department of Justice will descend upon domestic terror groups like the fiery hand of God. It means the Department of Defense getting involved the moment it crosses the line from "riot" to "insurrection."

And considering how the left acts about January 6, that bar shouldn't take long to clear.

When that happens, they will have started something they can't finish. The moment leftist groups start acting like terrorist groups, they'll be treated as such and cease to exist as anything but a historical footnote of what not to do to advance your political goals.

It also means ordinary Americans getting even sicker of the leftist nonsense and making their voices heard in the voting booths across this country.

Democrats can walk it back, though. They can denounce the violence. They can tell people to stop defacing other people's cars simply because they don't like the guy running the company that made it. They can act in a responsible manner and knock off all the stupidity, including the lawfare, and act like the adults they pretend to be.

They won't, though, and then woe be unto them should things escalate.
