For the past four years, the most powerful nation in the history of the world has been under attack. Deadly cartels, gangs, human smugglers, and other criminal aliens flooded American communities and harmed our citizens. This chaos was an orchestrated attack led by the last administration not only on our nation, but on the American dream.
But on January 20th, a new era of leadership began. After being sworn into office, President Trump wasted no time taking action to take back our country and set our nation back on course.
Many people wondered what this new administration would accomplish in the first 100 days – but they were not quite ready for President Trump’s first 100 hours. On day one, President Trump declared a national emergency at the southwest border, resumed border wall construction, deployed the military to our border, reimplemented the Remain in Mexico program, began removing criminal illegal aliens, and kicked off the fight to interpret the Fourteenth Amendment correctly and end birthright citizenship.
Last night, President Trump said, “The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying we needed new legislation to secure the border. But it turned out that all we really needed was a new president.” And he is exactly right.
President Trump’s decisive action and bold leadership has drastically changed the state of our border for the better. Our law enforcement is no longer functioning as a welcoming party at the border. Instead of granting fake legal status to 80,000 aliens a month, President Trump has wisely halted or ended Biden’s unlawful programs. Last month, there were only 8,326 apprehensions by Border Patrol. This stands in stark contrast to the nearly 300,000 monthly illegal crossings under Biden. ICE and Border Patrol can once again do their job.

But President Trump’s leadership has not stopped there. He has sent a clear message to anyone who tries to stand in the way of his agenda to restore order: America will not tolerate lawlessness or anyone who impedes us in taking back our country.
Nations who have shown unwillingness to cooperate have been met with an unmistakable response of American strength and resolve. When Venezuela tried to block flights returning members of their violent prison gang Tren de Aragua, President Trump quickly demonstrated the art of the deal. Within a couple hours, Venezuela offered to send its own planes to return the illegal aliens back to their home country. These repatriation flights were the first deportation to Venezuela performed in nearly a year.
Under President Trump’s leadership as chief diplomat of the United States, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has now agreed to deploy 10,000 Mexican soldiers to the border to stem the flow of drugs and illegal aliens. Smugglers have even admitted that their business has plummeted by 80% since President Trump took office in January.
President Trump’s historic first month in office has made one thing abundantly clear: the border crisis was never about “needing a bill.” The border chaos was always about the leadership — or rather lack thereof — inside the Oval Office and at DHS headquarters.
Let’s face facts, we were lied to for four straight years. The Biden administration first tried to convince the American people that this crisis was not happening.
When people saw through this lie for what it was, President Biden then pivoted to his next one: that the border crisis was somehow unavoidable. Radical Progressive Democrats tried to hide the death and destruction, but they could not hide the truth about Laken Riley and the countless Americans who lost their lives because of radical open-border policies.
Then they tried to sell the American people on a border “compromise” bill out of the Senate that would have permanently enshrined in law the Biden Border Crisis at 5,000 entries a day. We were all told this was necessary to stop the invasion. That was also a lie, as the record-low border numbers under President Trump have borne out.
President Trump answered the call of millions who knew that their country should not dissolve into a sanctuary state for the globe’s most dangerous criminals. The American people did not want the dream to die because a tyrant had left their liberty and safety to suffer.
While a change in leadership has allowed our nation to correct course and restore security, Congress must act to make these victories permanent. The House and Senate must come together to provide the resources that this administration needs in order to clean up the border crisis. We must properly fund border enforcement and codify this administration's executive actions so that regardless of who is in the White House, our nation will remain secure. It is imperative that Congress act boldly and match the pace of this administration so that the American dream is able to live on.
