The Europeans are proving to be the smartest idiots in the world.
Home Alone 2 provided us not only with a Donald Trump cameo but also some of the best lines in modern movie history. Who could forget the banter at the front desk of the Plaza Hotel:
“What kind of idiots do you have working here?”
“The finest in New York.”
Whenever you see a politician or other mover and shaker, you know that said person is minimally a college graduate. Harry Truman was the last U.S. president with no college training. Every leader, spokesman, or minister has at least a Bachelor's degree and many of them have more advanced degrees. Frau Dr. Merkel, who singlehandedly destroyed Germany and Europe through uncontrolled immigration, had a Ph.D. in quantum chemistry. As I have written often, nothing overcomes ideology—not even a big brain. Thus, Josef Goebbels received his Ph.D. in 1922 and went on to be one of the drivers of the Third Reich.
If one strips away the veneer of education and sophistication, he often sees that politicians and their money men are boors and ignoramuses. Europe was not invaded by some Muslim horde; no, the leaders invited them in, gave them housing and benefits, and stand aside as many Muslims make it clear that they hate their new home countries and plan to turn them into the hellholes they left. They demand that Sharia be the law of the land and tell the locals not to drink or bring dogs into their neighborhoods. Was this such a bright idea? Why do the knuckle-draggers over in Poland and Hungary seem to be smarter in having refused mass Muslim immigration? The answer is that they are not driven by lofty ideological drivel; they live in the real world and can predict what happens when you overwhelm a local culture with an alien culture that refuses to integrate. It’s like a person who wants to know what the outcome of the next Knesset election will be: he can ask a lifelong political analyst or he can ask the guy who sells him tomatoes at the open-market shuk. The latter will have a much better track record than the former.
So it was not enough for the Europeans to import Muslims past the tipping point of societal destruction. No. The European Union (EU) announced this week that it is preparing to give 1.6 billion euros to the Palestinian Authority (PA) over the next three years. The E.U., U.S. (in the past) and the U.N. have played a dull game for the past 40 years in which they declaim, “Hamas bad, PA good.” And I have to hand it to Yasir Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas that they have successfully hoodwinked the gullible credentialed morons who ostensibly run the world. Arafat could send terrorists out to kill Jews and still be accepted at all of the world’s chancelleries. Mahmoud Abbas could pay hundreds of millions of dollars to terrorists who killed Jews and still get the EU to cough up $1.8 billion. The announcement had the standard rubbish about the PA reforming itself. Remember when they “reintroduced” Hillary Clinton around nine different times? The PA is the same—it is always reforming itself while remaining the same.
If one wanted to quickly define the Palestinian Authority, he might say that it is Hamas without the daily prayers. Clearly, Abbas and arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti do not pretend to be very religious Muslims. But as Palestinian nationalists, they have rejected Israel’s right to exist or to be called a “Jewish state.” Their hatred of Israel is no less intense than that of Hamas, but like a serpent that periodically sheds its skin, the leaders of the PA need to say the right words to the Western press or world leaders in order to keep the money spigot open. Giving money to the PA will not bring peace; rather it will help Abbas pay his jailed terrorists without taking away the salaries of those who clean the Mukhata in Ramallah. The E.U. money is structured as grants and loans, but it is nothing but a gift to an outfit that provided the bomb used in the terror attack in which my son and I were injured. The fantasists in the E.U. and their friends like John Kerry and Barack Obama just wanted to wish that the PA was an upstanding organization waiting to take the reins of a future Palestine. The reality is that it is a kleptocracy that has participated in many terror attacks against Jews and is no less strident than Hamas in its hatred of Israel and its wish for her destruction.
When my wife and I were on a tour in Hawaii, the driver took the guests to a hotel for lunch. We knew that we could not eat at the hotel, but we figured that there were some bagged goods and canned drinks with the well-known kosher symbols that we could eat. We spun cans around in vain and looked at packaged cookies and the like—nothing there was kosher. So we did not eat. The EU, instead of pretending that the PA is some upstanding organization that deserves its massive financial assistance, should call a spade a spade. Mahmoud Abbas has made no effort over the past five years to advance peace between the PA and Israel. He oversees the payment of billions of shekels to murderers and the families of suicide bombers. He may not have been as directly involved in terror as Arafat, but he made sure to meet the buses bringing back killers released by Israel over the years. If the leaders of the E.U. were not complete dullards, they would have stated, “While we condemn Hamas’ actions, we cannot find at this time justification for giving additional funding to the Palestinian Authority. We look forward to future conditions that may lead to peace in the region.” Instead, they made sure that Abbas and his coterie will keep the money flowing to their people for another few years.
The E.U. is a failure at many levels. It is the home of aggressive anti-Jewish protests and it extends its distaste for Jews and Israel by funding an organization that pays terrorists according to how many Jews they killed. The EU is apparently too embarrassed to come out and state its desire for Israel to disappear; instead, it gives its people’s tax dollars to those who would gladly do the dirty work for them.
