This past month, Camilia Williams, a 52-year-old mother and grandmother, was brutally murdered by an illegal alien who entered the United States under the Biden administration. We mourn her tragic passing and the massive hole left instantly in her family’s lives. The attack against Ms. Williams was another reminder of the carnage and lawlessness from the previous administration’s open border, which has left a trail of American bodies in its tragic wake.
Thankfully, Donald J. Trump has taken swift action to make America safe again. He and his team wasted no time in reversing many of the reckless and unlawful policies of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Alejandro Mayorkas. President Trump immediately empowered officials at the border to enforce the nation’s laws to the fullest, leveraged neighboring countries to adhere to American sovereignty, and demonstrated unmatched political willpower in carrying out deportations of criminal illegal aliens across the country. He also signaled to state officials a willingness to work with their law enforcement agencies to maximize security of local communities and neighborhoods. Within weeks, the border was transformed – with even more progress occurring each subsequent week.
I fully support the president’s extensive efforts to rid our nation of dangerous criminal illegal aliens, which is why I sponsored the AZ ICE Act earlier this year to ensure local law enforcement agencies around our state cooperate with this critical mission. This historic bill has already passed the Arizona Senate and House of Representatives, making its way to Governor Katie Hobbs’ desk. We are hopeful the governor does the right thing and signs this bill to prove Arizona’s resolve in standing with the president in enforcing our immigration laws and protecting innocent men, women, and children.
Sadly, though, Governor Hobbs has been previously resistant to Republican efforts on border security, vetoing several attempts to restore a semblance of law and order to our state. Despite some polling showing that a majority of Americans support President Trump’s actions to restore sorely needed law and order to the heartland of our nation, federal judges and Arizona’s Governor and Attorney General, among other officials, are showing just how out of touch with reality they are by trying to block his lawful efforts. Reasonably minded Americans were shocked at the recent news of Chief Judge James Boasberg abusing his authority in attempting to return planes filled with dangerous illegal aliens. While this judge may have committed the most egregious version of judicial overreach to date in President Trump’s second term, he is definitely not alone with his radical schemes to usurp the constitutional power of the executive branch.
These Democrats and federal judges have decided to take their stand on an issue with grave national security implications for the United States. Our enemies are watching, and they have taken notice of the feckless, lawless abdication from the previous presidential administration and its allies on the left. In fact, America’s enemies have done more than watch; they’ve crossed into our nation. During the four years of the Biden administration, thousands of individuals from special interest countries poured across the border and fanned out into countless American communities. A record number of Chinese aliens were apprehended and turned loose into our heartland. Deadly members of the cartel even directed traffic within our own country, making money hand over fist from the migrants and drugs that were being smuggled over the international boundary line. Democrats and left-leaning federal judges rarely – if ever – did anything to put an end to this insane lawlessness and protect innocent Americans.
I am confident these tyrants of the law will not succeed. While it seems like they may be winning in some of the cases that have arose over President Trump’s actions to make our country safe again, the president is more resolved than all of them together. He understands that the issues surrounding our border and public safety on our streets amount to more than just partisan talking points. President Trump has always believed that the safety and security of our country, starting at both the southern and northern borders, is nothing less than life or death for many Americans. It’s certainly not hyperbole to say the future of our great country depends on President Trump’s success.
Rest assured that Republicans will continue to stand with President Trump to protect innocent Americans and secure our border. Despite the radical opposition to his commonsense and lawful actions, we will fight alongside our commander in chief to ensure victory at the border, in our neighborhoods, in the courts, and wherever else the left desires to raise their dangerous obstinance. This is a fight worth having and fight we shall for this nation we love with all our hearts.
