Democrats Elect More of the Same to Lead Their Party Over the Cliff

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Democrats consider themselves “the cool kids,” the people everyone wants to be around. They never really were, but their closeness with Hollywood at least allowed the illusion that they were “cool” by proxy. Now Hollywood isn’t cool anymore – full of effeminate “men” and whiny “stars” who live in a disconnected world somewhere outside of reality. Now, Democrats are a loose coalition of interest groups and activists who, truth be told, would not get along or agree on anything if you removed the victimhood and identity politics they have nothing else – a house of cards built in front of a fan by someone with a severe allergy who is prone to sneezing fits.

I do enjoy watching these people flail.

The worst thing Democrats have going for themselves is they have to operate under the restraints and politically correct garbage they’ve tried to impose on everyone else. With the reelection of Donald Trump, the American public rejected the bastardization of language and the controls they’ve sought to impose on everyone.

“Pronouns in a bio” and the idea of unacceptable, because someone’s feelings might be hurt, were tossed out by voters and only now exist in Democratic Party circles. And they are choking on them.

The leadership elections for the Democratic National Committee was a Saturday Night Live skit from back when SNL was funny.

Of course, SNL isn’t funny anymore, and the Democratic Party has moved so far beyond reality that it is a parody, which cannot be parodied.

David Hogg is a Vice-Chair? With the physique of a stick figure, the IQ of a rock, and the understanding of the Constitution and our government of a Canadian raised by Marxists in a bunker in the Arctic Circle. Hell, if I were allowed to pick who would make the face of the DNC, I would’ve picked him, but they did it voluntarily. It’s like a boxer punching themselves in the groin repeatedly just before the opening bell of a title fight.

But Hogg wasn’t the only stupid move they made; they only made stupid moves.

Another Vice-Chair is someone named Artie Blanco. Don’t worry; I’d never heard of her before, either. Her website for the seat reads, “I am running to be Vice Chair of the DNC to get back to the basics: year-round organizing, engaging hard-to-reach voters by strengthening our message and broadening its delivery. With your support, we can restore the Democratic Party’s connection to diverse and working-class voters by showing up and listening.”

Two sentences, two mentions of “diversity.”

Artie represents three different “communities” in the food pyramid of Democratic Party victimhood: women, Hispanics, and the obese.

In her first fundraising email, Artie introduced herself by writing, “I'm a proud second-generation union member activist, a lifelong Democrat, and a first-generation Mexican American.” Yawn. Then continued, “We must not pass up opportunities to engage all communities in the work ahead.”

She concludes with, “I’ve spent many years working in Nevada, focused on expanding the Latino electorate. We’ve achieved record-breaking voter turnout…”

Donald Trump crushed Kamala Harris in Nevada by almost 50,000 votes. Did Democrats have no one from a state they won who wanted to hold a leadership position within their organization?

Hogg, who has been dancing on the graves of his classmates from Parkland High School since the shooting the media made him famous over happened, wrote in his email, “Are you ready to go on the offense? We have to win back young people. We must show them that we care about them and that we will invest in them. We need generational change — and we need to support the emerging leaders who are making that happen.”

Young voters went for Trump precisely because they’d seen how Democrats “cared” for them their whole lives and how that worked out for them over that time: no jobs, can’t afford anything, and the threat of being absolutely destroyed should they accidentally acknowledge biological realities or have posted anything now deemed offensive to social media back before they started puberty.

They rejected Democrats soundly and still do. There’s no way to polish that turd into something they’d support – their politics are not a suicide pact.

But Democrats will try because the alternative is to look in the mirror and address how they end up where they are. Their leadership elections show they aren’t ready to do that, and maybe they aren’t even capable of it. Good.
