Trump Is Assembling the Most Modern, Pro-LGBT Republican Presidential Cabinet In History

In just under a week, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. He’ll have a unified Republican House and Senate behind him to help him shake up Washington, enact the America First agenda, and restore American leadership and prosperity.

President Trump’s most powerful asset, however, will be one he didn’t fully have last time: a power-house presidential cabinet committed to carrying out his policies and ready to hit the ground running.

President Trump’s strong-willed, experienced, and talented nominees reflect not just his bold agenda, but the political diversity of the coalition that elected him. Like Trump himself, none of them are wallflowers; they are all coming to Washington energized and on a no-fail mission to put power back in the hands of the people.

It’s also the youngest, most modern & pro-LGBT Republican presidential cabinet in history, with LGBT Americans and allies elevated to the highest levels of leadership like never before seen in a Republican Administration. Contrary to what you hear from liberal activists and the media, it’s yet another sign of President Trump’s love and respect for LGBT Americans and his intentions to continue protecting our community.

President Trump needs his all-star cabinet ready to go on Day One. Yes, the Senate has a right to wield its constitutional ‘advise and consent’ powers to question Trump’s nominees. It also has a responsibility to President Trump - and the American people - to approve them as judiciously and swiftly as possible.

Let’s review just a few of his nominees.

Scott Bessent, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the Treasury, is one of the most brilliant minds in the financial world with a strategic command of economic geopolitics and global markets, as well as what American businesses need at home to thrive. Importantly, he is a supporter of President Trump’s agenda to push back against China’s expanding economic dominance, making him a reliable ally at the helm of the U.S. economy.

Bessent is also openly gay, married, and has two children with his partner. If he is confirmed as Treasury Secretary, he will be fifth-in-line to the presidency and the highest-ranking openly gay American to ever serve in a presidential Administration in history.

Of course, Bessent’s sexual orientation isn’t why he was nominated. Trump recognizes incredible talent and leadership among LGBT Americans and doesn’t hesitate to promote them when they are the most qualified person for the job. Bessent fits the bill.

President Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Health and Human Services Department is a sign of his commitment to unity that he promised during the campaign. RFK Jr., another strong supporter of the LGBT community, will bring the perspective of independents and disaffected Democrats to the cabinet and help President Trump take on corrupt and entrenched bureaucracies that do a disservice to the health and wellness of the American people.

Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, Kash Patel, who campaigned alongside LGBT Republicans this past fall, shares President Trump’s distrust of the lawfare that has been weaponized against political opponents and will be a fierce champion to restore justice to the nation’s top law enforcement agency. Tulsi Gabbard, who like Patel joined the Log Cabin Republicans on our Trump UNITY campaign tour to elect President Trump, will take on the weaponization of the intelligence community and protect Americans’ civil liberties while ensuring our country remains safe from threats at home and abroad.

Nominees like Pam Bondi for Attorney General, Matthew Whitaker for Ambassador to NATO, Elise Stefanik for Ambassador to the UN, Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Labor Secretary, and others - the list goes too long to name here - are not just incredibly impressive and respected leaders in their fields. They are also proven and reliable allies of LGBT Americans who have followed President Trump’s lead in embracing LGBT conservatives into the Republican Party and who will safeguard our community’s hard-earned progress.

In just over a week, President Trump will begin the hard work of making America great again. His nominees won’t hinder his progress, pursue their own agendas, or work behind his back. They are fully committed to the cause the American people voted for in November. In order to ensure President Trump has the best team ready to go on Day One, the Senate should confirm them all as soon as possible … and in the process they’ll be voting for the most pro-LGBT Republican presidential Administration in history.
