BlueAnon – WASHINGTON POST
Another upheaval about neutral positions.
Just after we mentioned the Los Angeles Times yesterday seeing top editors and executives resigning because the paper did not endorse a candidate, we now have on the other coast another major paper in an internal firestorm, for the same reason. At the Washington Post, the announcement came down that the paper would not lend support to either presidential candidate, and staffers are wailing. It turns out that somehow a paper being unbiased and non-committal about the election is tantamount to supporting fascism.
This is the sophomoric level of emotional bleating that populates far too much of the news industry. Just behold this thread filled with outraged WaPo journalists getting upset in notable biased fashion.

The great thing about the election nearly here: Fewer journos talking about themselves, we can hope.
It is highly amusing to watch as the news industry diminishes and fewer people trust the press that journalists feel that expressing their fears for their careers will somehow compel voters to vote a certain way. Look, it's simple – if people are walking away from your content then you are telling them how you are at risk of not being able to post content will have zero effect. If you get sick at a local restaurant and stop going, the cooks screeching about the health department possibly shutting them down will only lead to applause.
One journo not grasping this concept is Molly Jong-Fast. The hyper-leftist who resides in Manhattan believes that even if she is ensconced in that blue state Utopia, a Trump election victory means she will end up in "the camps." What these camps are for or meant to do is the work of fiction, of course:
What would it mean to have a president who, in this fashion, targets what little is left of the free press? Trump is telling us all about his potential plans: internment camps, going after his enemies foreign and domestic, including, presumably, journalists. Will I be one of them?

Race to the Bottom – THE ATLANTIC
Watch the real side come out when those pesky minority voters vote the wrong way!
George Packer of The Atlantic was on "Morning Joe" to discuss frankly the issue with the swelling number of black and Hispanic voters who are voting for Donald Trump. Packer looks over the political landscape and thoughtfully weighs the issues to come to a reasoned assessment of why this is taking place.
Those damned minority voters are too stupid to know better.
Seriously, he concludes in a racist fashion that they are doing so because they are not educated enough to know better. What is amazing – beyond this troubling reductive approach – is that he is talking about those who have switched from being Democrats. So what is his explanation for how these stunted idiots had been apparently voting "correctly" in past elections?

So…they should all gather around the woman who says, "Get the Hell outta here!"
Okay, maybe because he is a historian it means he struggles with current events. On MSNBC, John Meacham was weighing in with his take on the election, and he wanted to address the decisions made by evangelicals. Meacham invokes the Bible to basically lecture that if Christians were true to their faith, they would not vote for Trump.
Only problem, John: Kamala is the woman who just told someone who invoked the Lord that they were at the wrong rally. She was in an interview and stated that church-backed hospitals would be required to provide abortion services. She is hardly the option for Christians.
MSNBC's Meacham warns Americans against voting for Trump: "The American people are on trial. And if we choose, if a sufficient number of us ... choose to ignore the evidence that, as the Bible says, those with eyes to see & ears to hear can detect, then ... we have no excuse." pic.twitter.com/BLVJyOZUks

Didn't you used to write press releases for the Confederate Army?
Once again, we have a case of a journalist suggesting that we are all but required to allow dark-skinned people into the country so they can pick our crops at a low wage rate, or else we will see our food prices increase exponentially.
We are certain to have heard an argument of this sort before, but the historical significance is escaping us at the moment.
If you think food prices are high now, wait until they are deported. https://t.co/1AleqAl6uW

Pathological Media Amnesia – COLUMBIA JOURNALISM REVIEW / CNN
Do we ever tire of the nightmare fever-dream reporting?
We may need to hold off on any further coverage of Brian Stelter until at least after the election. He has begun to exhibit the traits of those others in the press overloading on the hysteria of a possible Trump win. For his latest bout of hysterics, Brian is speculating at CJR on how Donald Trump will go after journalists. The fear is that he would employ portions of the Espionage Act, essentially using it to go after those declared a threat to the nation.
Now, we do not want to go so far as to say it will never happen, but we do question the severity of this kind of potential maneuver if done by a president. After all, during the Barack Obama years, there was not near this level of outrage and teeth gnashing of concern seen in the press – and Obama was ACTUALLY DOING these feared practices.
Annnnd, yet again, there is far, FAR more wailing about what Trump COULD do, than what a Democratic president actually did. https://t.co/u8uGEwRcIk pic.twitter.com/Fs9jHP37nc
