Does President Trump’s policies of putting America’s interests first cause Trump Derangement Syndrome, or does Trump Derangement Syndrome cause liberals to abhor the concept of putting America’s interests first? It’s a causality dilemma to rival the ‘chicken and the egg.' Which came first, Trump Derangement Syndrome or the Democrats’ America last approach? Regardless of the order of origin, both have been on full display these past three years, and both present a problem for Democrats who hope to capture the White House in 2020.

This election year got off to a roaring start for Democrats suffering from TDS, and wholly disinterested in the better interests of the United States. An attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq was met with barely muted exuberance from all corners of the American left from Democrat politicians to their mouthpieces in the mainstream media. MSNBC and CNN practically celebrated “Trump’s Benghazi.” Senator Chris Murphy chimed in on Twitter, “Trump has rendered America impotent in the Middle East. No one fears us, no one listens to us.” Never mind that, unlike Benghazi, no American died in our embassy, there was no advance warning of the attack, Trump immediately called in the U.S. Marines, and Trump never attempted to blame the attack on his own domestic political rivals, the liberal mood was nothing short of celebratory. The only relevant question is, was it celebratory because it put foreign (terrorist) interests before that of the United States, or because it met their need to satisfy their TDS?

Following the attack on the American Embassy, and just a week after the murder of a U.S. contractor in Iraq, President Trump ordered the airstrike that took out the architect of both, Iranian General and terrorist mastermind Qasem Soleimani. This was clearly an action by the president to put American interests before that of a terrorist and a terrorist regime, and the Democrats mourned it. Nancy Pelosi called it an “unnecessary provocation,” Elizabeth Warren wondered aloud if he had done it to distract from the feckless impeachment, the media fell in line, and, once again, Chris Murphy chimed in on Twitter questioning the President’s response. Did any of the above mind so much when President Obama allowed Navy SEALs to kill Osama bin Laden? More importantly, were they objecting to President Trump putting American interests first by killing a terrorist, or were they succumbing to the effects of TDS?

Democrats, some of whom are seeking the White House, have a running history of forgetting to put America’s interests first, and viciously attacking anyone, usually President Trump, who does. The United States can benefit greatly from immigration. The U.S. also has a strong interest in stifling illegal immigration. Combating crime and drug trafficking, preventing terrorism, protecting our economy and social services are all reasons to curb illegal immigration and advancing those interests puts American interests first. And uniformly Democrats oppose putting these American interests first whereas President Trump chooses to. Is it the interests of America they do not wish to place first, or is it merely a symptom of their TDS?

The Democrats’ all-consuming impeachment obsession has, for three years, placed the interests of their party, and foreign governments, above that of the United States. First, they chased a Russian collusion narrative, all the while knowing it to be false. The goal of Russian interference in the 2016 election was to undermine faith in American democracy. By willfully promoting their conspiracy theories in a vane effort to undo an election, Democrats have profoundly furthered the interests of a foreign power over that of America.

To be sure, Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi would have found a reason to justify their white whale of impeachment no matter how they had to create it, yet the excuse they ultimately chose to settle on further underscores how they have either no concept of putting American interests first, or such an utter disdain for President Trump that they cannot see that an America first philosophy is precisely what they are impeaching him for. For three years Trump championed an idea of investigating government corruption and putting an end to wasteful foreign assistance. Immediately upon their Russian collusion narrative collapsing, Democrats seized on an example of Trump promoting these stated American interests and chose to call it “digging up dirt on a political rival”. Has Trump Derangement Syndrome consumed them to the point that they cannot see the American interests in investigating government corruption, or do they simply not care about putting American interests first? Back to the causality dilemma.

The Democrats’ Trump Derangement Syndrome and inability to put American interests first has created for them another election year paradox apart from the causality dilemma, the Catch-22. If, in accordance with the dictates of their TDS, Democrats must declare all things done by Trump are evil, and Trump puts American interests first, then, necessarily, Democrats must feel that putting America first is evil. That’s a tough position to run on this year. Trump places American interests before that of terrorists and terrorist regimes while Democrats, who are shackled to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, declare all that Trump does is wrong, thereby putting America second, last, or not at all. On each and every issue, from terrorism and national security, to illegal immigration Trump puts America first, the Democrats want to impeach and remove him for it, before Americans have a chance to vote on it. They don’t have much of a chance on the removal, so they’ll inevitably have to run on their vision for 2020, America last.
