It’s astounding that Democrats are incapable of beating Donald J. Trump. Is he the GOP’s Barack Obama? He was the Republicans’ political kryptonite, cruising to reelection in back-to-back national elections. Trump had the misfortune of COVID wrecking his booming economy, but we know he likely would’ve wiped the floor with Joe Biden if the world hadn’t lost its mind during the pandemic. Regardless, the Democrats had other issues to energize their base and chose the one no one cared about.
It’s a sign that Democrats have become too insular and so entrapped by their bubble that it has warped their sense of reality. The numbers don’t lie—no one cares about January 6. No one cares about the threat to democracy nonsense. The “Trump is Hitler” attacks were laughed out of the room. This party once prided itself in being ahead of the GOP in voter outreach. Yet, all empires fall, and those algorithms are worthless if the brain trust leading them is loaded with condescending, progressive, wealthy whites who think they know what’s best. They don’t. The voters were quite clear on that last November.
Only five percent of voters cited January 6 as the lasting memory from the first Trump presidency. That’s CNN polling. The Democrats went all-in on this issue for years, and yet, no one seemed to get that voters do not care about this little riot. It was a Democrat-media obsession. They did so many lines of this drug that A&E’s “Intervention” could have a multi-season series on the lunacy.
Meanwhile, they doubled down on open borders and let drug dealers, rapists, and murderers into the country while trying to gaslight us into thinking the border was secure. It’s not. It got so out of control that mass deportation, once seen as an extreme policy measure, has majority support, even among Hispanic voters.

On health care, Democrats opted to obsess over abortion, which did little to energize the liberal base or carry Kamala Harris over the top. Democrats have built-in policy advantages over Republicans on this issue. Not so much with immigration and January 6, but they bungled everything. I’m not complaining. I hope they continue to do so for the next several cycles, but this epic failure in the 2024 elections has exposed that this party has been beyond out of touch. They don’t know how voters think, and in doing so, led to the creation of a multi-racial working class party with Republicans, a coalition that, if maintained, will be very hard to beat.
January 6 was going to be a Trump-killer.
Abortion was going to carry Harris over the top.
All turned out to be wildly inaccurate political calculations.
Again, no one cares about that little riot.
