CBS News could’ve done the right thing, but as most in the liberal media, it did not. Its laughably predictable response only drew more attention to an interview that I’m sure some hoped would be buried as we enter the final stretch of the 2024 election. Donald Trump’s trip to McDonald’s in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was the weekend's story, but then CBS News had to draw attention to its miserable interview with Kamala Harris.
Just release the damn transcript. It’s not like it’s some secret, guys. We know it’s a trainwreck. Even after all the surgery you did in the editing room, it was still a mess. You’re not protecting her. You’re only embarrassing this industry and, by extension, Kamala Harris. Also, this statement's swipe at Donald Trump is not the best idea. Whoever drafted this should be fired:
Former President Donald Trump is accusing 60 Minutes of deceitful editing of our Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false.
60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide ranging 21-minute-long segment.
Remember, Mr. Trump pulled out of his interview with 60 Minutes and the vice president participated.
Our long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open. If he would like to discuss the issues facing the nation and the Harris interview, we would be happy to have him on 60 Minutes.
We’re not talking about Trump, guys. We’re talking about Kamala’s ghastly and disqualifying answers, and you’re getting caught red-handed trying to make her sound less of an imbecile. It’s not exactly 2004, but it’s another media trip-up. That election cycle saw Dan Rather become the undisputed godfather of fake news when he tried to influence the 2004 election with fake documents about George W. Bush’s Texas Air National Guard service. The infamous Killian Documents fiasco led to top “60 Minutes” producers getting fired and purportedly pushed Rather into early retirement. It’s not entirely on that level. That’s a major league scandal. The difference here is that we know the truth. We know Kamala’s answers were a nightmare, especially on the issues of Israel/Gaza and immigration.
We know it was a trainwreck, guys. You’re not infallible. You’re not special. Stop protecting a Democrat who will do your party no good. It’s as if CBS never learned the mainstream media’s lesson from Joe Biden when multiple outlets knew the president’s mental health was in freefall but refused to cover the story because they feared it would help Trump. Too bad.
If anything, this statement did nothing to disarm the bomb. You might have caused it to explode. Many noted how the statement reads like something from a political operation, not a news outlet. They’re right. Alas, the Democrat-media complex has entered the chat.

Rip off the Band-Aid, fellas. This event will end poorly, no matter what. You might as well take the lumps now, as other stories are in the mix in the election's final weeks. We’ll still put you through the meat grinder, but the period of the lashings won’t be as long or severe. We still have crying liberals frothing at the mouth over Trump at McDonald’s to cover.
