Just days after Iranian-backed terrorists launched an attack on Americans in Northern Iraq, killing a civilian contractor and wounding a U.S. soldier, the Biden administration has issued no punishment. In fact, President Biden is rewarding the behavior by initiating talks with the regime, pulling off sanctions and green lighting new cash flows bound to fuel terrorism.

"The Biden administration said Thursday evening that it is ready to begin conducting diplomacy with Iran, an announcement that has rankled Iran hawks in and out of Congress who see the new White House as rushing into talks with a regime that continues to sponsor terror attacks against U.S. forces and build its nuclear weapons program," the Washington Free Beacon reports.

For the past four years, Iran has been isolated thanks to the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign. New and lasting alliances, solidified through the Abraham Accords, have changed the Middle East for the better. Those fighting for freedom against the regime in Iran recently wrote a letter begging the Biden administration not to relent, citing progress limiting the regime’s influence and proxy terrorist groups in the region.

"The events in Iran in conjunction with the signing of the Abraham Accords signals a significant geopolitical shift in the Middle East. Indeed, the Islamic Republic is experiencing a decline in its influence in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and throughout the Greater Middle East. As a result of this momentous reality, the Islamic Republic Theocracy is on the verge of collapse," they wrote.

Instead of adding to this success, which benefits the United States and allies like Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Biden is breathing new life into Iran’s genocidal agenda. The lifting of sanctions means more cash and weapons from China and Russia for the regime.

"The United States on Thursday told the United Nations Security Council it was rescinding a Trump administration assertion that all U.N. sanctions had been reimposed on Iran in September," Reuters reports.

Biden's foreign policy team, which is essentially the same team that worked on the Iranian nuclear agreement under President Obama, argues talks will lead to better behavior. We already know this isn’t the case.

On the 2020 campaign trail, there wasn’t much focus on Biden's foreign policy record, either as a senator or as vice president during the Obama administration. But a quick look back shows the Iranian nuclear deal emboldened Iran’s behavior rather than tamp it down. In fact, in January 2016, after the U.S. signed the agreement, which was not sent to the Senate as a treaty because it would have never been ratified, Iran took a number of U.S. Navy sailors hostage. They forced female sailors to cover their hair and then violated the Geneva Convention by filming the ordeal and using it for propaganda purposes. This was also after the Obama administration secretly sent a plane full of cash and gold worth $400 million to Tehran.

Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, is building a nuclear bomb. It's clear President Biden has no real intention to stop them from doing so. His appeasement is dangerous for the United States, now and long term.
