America has long prided itself on being a constitutional republic built upon the foundation of inalienable rights — rights not granted by the government but inherent to all human beings. The Left, however, has increasingly abandoned this principle, embracing violence and coercion as acceptable means to silence their opponents and impose their ideology. In contrast, the Right, while often fiercely opposed to leftist policies, overwhelmingly rejects violence and respects the fundamental rights of all individuals, even those with whom they disagree. This stark contrast exposes the Left’s dangerous shift toward totalitarianism and the Right’s commitment to preserving liberty.

The Left’s Justification for Violence

One of the most troubling aspects of modern leftism is its moral justification for violence. Leftist activists and politicians routinely excuse and even encourage destruction and intimidation as necessary tactics to achieve their ends. This is evident in the way leftist movements such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter have engaged in violent riots, burning down businesses, attacking law enforcement, and terrorizing communities — all under the guise of fighting for “justice.”

The 2020 riots, for example, led to billions of dollars in damage, dozens of deaths, and countless injuries, yet leftist politicians and media figures either downplayed the violence or outright supported it. Vice President Kamala Harris even promoted a bail fund for rioters, ensuring they would face no consequences for their lawlessness. This pattern extends beyond street violence. The harassment and physical attacks on conservative Supreme Court justices, Republican politicians, and pro-life advocates show that the Left believes those who oppose them have no legitimate rights.

The Right’s Commitment to Peaceful Advocacy

In contrast, conservatives have consistently advocated for change through peaceful and democratic means. Consider the pro-life movement, which has been steadfast in its mission to protect unborn life. Despite being vilified, harassed, and even attacked, pro-life advocates continue to use persuasion, legal action, and prayer rather than violence to advance their cause. The rare instances of violence against abortion providers have been universally condemned by the broader conservative movement, which firmly believes that the right to life applies to all people, including those with whom they disagree.

Similarly, Second Amendment advocates, who strongly oppose radical gun control policies, have never resorted to assassinating left-wing politicians pushing for gun confiscation. They fight for their rights through legislation, court battles, and grassroots activism — not through violence.

The Left’s Attack on Free Speech and Political Dissent

Perhaps even more revealing of the Left’s authoritarian tendencies is its war on free speech. When parents across the country began protesting school policies that exposed their children to radical gender ideology and critical race theory, the Biden administration weaponized the FBI to investigate and intimidate them. Instead of listening to their concerns, the government treated them as domestic terrorists. This was not an isolated incident but part of a broader effort to criminalize dissent.

Conservatives, despite facing relentless censorship and government overreach, have not resorted to violence in response. Even as Joe Biden’s policies weakened the economy, violated free speech, and trampled parental rights, there was no conservative-led campaign of violence to remove him from office or target his supporters. Instead, they have used lawful avenues such as elections, lawsuits, and public discourse to challenge his administration’s overreach.

Contrast this with the Left’s increasing embrace of domestic terrorism against their perceived enemies. Recently, radical leftists have begun targeting Tesla owners, vandalizing and even setting fire to their vehicles in an effort to lash out at Elon Musk. Their rage stems from Musk’s commitment to free speech on social media platforms and his association with DOGE initiatives to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse in government spending. These acts of destruction reveal a disturbing mindset: that political disagreements justify criminal behavior.

The Left’s Hypocrisy and Celebration of Violence

The Left’s embrace of political violence is not just evident in riots and harassment—members of Congress and the media openly celebrate it. When leftist activists vandalize crisis pregnancy centers, disrupt conservative speakers, threaten Jewish students on college campuses, or attack Republican politicians, there is either silence or outright justification from left-wing leaders. Even as conservative Supreme Court justices faced assassination attempts and violent threats, left-wing politicians refused to condemn the danger and, in some cases, even encouraged it.

Meanwhile, these same figures decry any opposition from the Right as an existential threat to democracy. January 6th, 2021, is endlessly cited as proof of conservative extremism despite the fact that the vast majority of attendees engaged in peaceful protest and did not commit acts of violence. The Left’s selective outrage reveals their true motives: they do not oppose political violence; they simply want a monopoly on it.

The Left’s Vision: Rights for Me, But Not for Thee

The root of the Left’s increasing reliance on violence lies in their rejection of inalienable rights. To the modern Left, rights are not inherent to individuals but granted by the state—and, therefore, can be revoked from those they deem unworthy. This is why they feel justified in silencing, imprisoning, and physically attacking their opponents. To them, conservatives are not just wrong; they are illegitimate and undeserving of protection under the law.

By contrast, the Right’s commitment to inalienable rights means that even those with whom they disagree are entitled to life, liberty, and free expression. Conservatives do not seek to silence or destroy their political opponents but rather to debate and defeat them through the democratic process. This is the essence of what it means to be American.

Conclusion

The growing divide in America concerns not just policy disagreements but fundamentally different views on human rights and governance. The Left has embraced political violence because they believe in a world where rights are conditional and opposition is illegitimate. The Right, on the other hand, continues to stand for the principles of the Founding Fathers, where all people — regardless of their views — are entitled to inalienable rights that cannot be stripped away by mob rule or government overreach.

Suppose America is to remain a free nation. In that case, it must reject the Left’s dangerous slide into totalitarianism and reaffirm the foundational belief that rights belong to all, not just those in power. Until then, the Left will continue to justify its violence, while the Right will remain the last line of defense for true liberty.
