Remember when Al Gore – the Pope of the Holy Church of Global Warming – walked away from a Buddhist Temple in California with a couple of tens of thousand dollars in campaign contributions from nuns who’d taken a vow of poverty? Ever since then, Democrats have been Hoovering up money from anywhere, no matter how shady, like Hunter Biden sucked up cocaine off the bodies of the hookers he rented. The Trump administration is now taking notice and investigating where Democrats are getting their money, and it’s got them very, very nervous.
A Politico story on the subject opens, “Democrats on Thursday were bracing for a sustained attack on their fundraising operation by Republicans, as President Donald Trump targets ActBlue.” ActBlue is the portal through which Democrats funnel most of their campaign contributions through, and it’s got a record of shady dealings.
Money from overseas flowed into that portal for a long time because Democrats didn’t care where the money came from – ignorance is cash – they just wanted the money. “In December,” Politico reports, investigators “announced the documents turned over by ActBlue showed that the company had implemented new policies to ‘automatically reject donations that use foreign prepaid/gift cards, domestic gift cards, are from high-risk/sanctioned countries, and have the highest level of risk as determined.’”
What happened in December? Well, the Trump administration 2.0 was gearing up to return to power. With that looming, of course Democrats were going to suddenly find a new respect for the law and take steps to “flag” illegal foreign contributions, among other shady things.
The idea of untraceable, likely corrupt campaign cash is nothing new to Democrats. In 2008, Barack Obama’s campaign was happily accepting donations from untraceable Visa gift cards, the kind hanging around the checkout at your local grocery store. Anyone can buy a Visa gift card, with money from anywhere. It’s untraceable. The only reason to do it is to obscure corruption.
There are limits to how much anyone can give to a politician or party, but if you find yourself having maxed out those limits and still want to give more, just buy a pile of Visa gift cards and you’re in business. This can be done from anywhere in the world, by anyone in the world willing to pony up the cash.
And there’s no way to check it.
This was exposed in the media. The Washington Post reported in October of 2008, “Faced with a huge influx of donations over the Internet, the campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged.”
They didn’t care, there was too much money in it for them to worry about where it was coming from.
In January of 2013, the 2008 Obama campaign was fined $375,000 for this corruption. Who cared? They’d won already. A fine for pennies on the dollar long after the fact is a punchline, not a punishment.
As a matter of fact, the entire enterprise an investigation was such a joke that the 2012 Obama campaign did a slightly more refined version of the same thing again. Stick with what works.
The Obama campaign, which kept the money for themselves, has been replaced by ActBlue, but the impact is the same. “Donors” give untraceable money and use real people’s names and addresses to do it. But those people did not give anything, they don’t have the money to give anything.
This scam was uncovered on a mass scale last year and went largely ignored by the corporate media because it’s their team doing it. Who’s going to report on ActBlue when the reporters are ActBlue superfans, possibly even donors? They’re certainly friends with the donors, anyway. That’d be like an San Francisco Giants fan finding a suspicious substance in the locker of someone on the verge of breaking a home run record – that’s very unlikely to happen.
You’re going to hear a log of complaining from Democrats about this investigation, as happens when you’re over the target. But what you won’t hear is any evidence to the contrary to the allegations of their corruption. Disproving the truth is damn-near impossible. Good luck, Democrats.
