Remember the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, allegedly by a spoiled, wealthy kid? It wasn’t that long ago, yet it has faded from the headlines largely because the left doesn’t want to be seen cheering it or have their young female base be seen lining up to offer someone charged with first degree murder free conjugal visits. But it did happen, he was murdered. And he was murdered because of his job and the demonization of the health insurance industry. You’d think Democrats, who created the atmosphere that led to the murder, would maybe pump the brakes of their inflammatory rhetoric or at least take their foot off the gas for a while. You would be wrong.
No one has been more consistent in their call to destroy our health care system than Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and no one has been doing so longer. Given the ability, it would shock no one if Bernie simply outlawed the industry and, given how those who share his political philosophy react to anyone who objects to their flexing of muscles, jailed or worse anyone who opposed him. That is, as history shows us, how progressives roll.
But they’re usually not straight about what they plan or are willing to do – they never campaign on murdering their opponents and even loyalists once they outlive their usefulness, but they do not campaign on it, just like they don’t campaign on ending elections, which they do first when the opportunity arises.
Saturday, I got a fundraising email from “Our Revolution,” the Marxist organization the Sanders presidential campaign morphed into, with the subject line, “Add your name: Break up UnitedHealth. Break up Big For-Profit Healthcare!”
These people could have chosen any health insurance company, or they could have simply said “private health insurance.” They chose to use the company with the CEO that was just murdered because that murder made their base aware of the company and they all very much would like to sleep with the alleged murderer.

Am I being too cynical? Hell no.
The email reads, “Insurance corporations like United, Cigna, and Humana make billions in profits from people just trying to get health care. AND these companies have been accused of rampant fraud in administering Medicare Advantage — stealing from public funds to pad shareholder profits. This kind of sick behavior by America’s largest health care corporation must end. ADD YOUR NAME: Break up UnitedHealth, and chip in to our fight to end the deadly, for profit health care industry!”
I’m sure UnitedHealthcare is terrified of the idea of an online petition!
That’s sarcasm, just in case it wasn’t clear.
This drip of opportunism – one of those companies is in the news, likely because a fellow traveler and drone of theirs shot the CEO – is disgusting.
It also puts a bullseye on the back of every other high-ranking executive from those other companies, doesn’t it? I know if the shoe were on the other foot, Democrats would be screaming from the mountain tops that it did, why should it be thought of any differently because they are the ones doing it? It shouldn’t.
Their email ends, “Executives get rich and stocks go up while everyday Americans suffer. No matter what the corporate media and CEO class say, the reality is that the deadly, for-profit healthcare system ONLY benefits corporate shareholders and the ultra-rich. Breaking up giant health corporations like United is a huge step in the right direction towards outright ending for-profit healthcare in America — and finally passing Medicare for All. We need a massive push to pressure lawmakers for healthcare justice right now, and we can only do it with your support. Sign the petition: Break up giant health corporations like UnitedHealth now!”
What would constitute “justice” in the mind of a deranged radical leftist for someone making money off the literal suffering and death of others? There’s only one way to think of what they are hoping to inspire here.
The radical left has a history of inspiring political violence – James Hodgkinson, anyone? – and just as long of a history of pretending they had nothing to do with it. They accuse conservatives of “violent rhetoric” while they engage in actual violence. It’s usually faceless, leaderless mobs, but this is a sitting United States Senator’s organization. He’ll claim he has nothing to do with it, just like he did with Hodgkinson, but it was his campaign and his ideology. He would show no one else to understand what he demands; he should not get it himself.
