Well, that was fun, wasn’t it?
I love a good election ending with Rachel Maddow being sad and Joy Reid angry. When people like that are having a bad day, America is having a good one.
While the fun of watching Democrats cry over losing never gets old, I’m always concerned about what comes next – Election Day isn’t a finish line, after all – so I look to see if the other side is showing signs of having learned anything from having their rear ends handed to them. I can report that they have not, not even close.
In the lead-up to the vote, Democrats assured us that this election was a fight for the very soul of our country – the existential threat to the side of righteousness, with Democrats being the left’s version of righteousness. Hitler reincarnated was on the ballot; whether the United States of America would become Nazi Germany 2.0 was at stake.
Then Donald Trump won.
Weirdly, none of the people who’d clutched their pearls so tightly that their hands were fused to them had packed up their belongings and fled the country. The View is not planned to originate from Canada or Cuba, and Jimmy Kimmel is not moving to Europe or Mexico; life is continuing as before.
The cast of MSNBC is upset, no doubt, but Comcast is unlikely to fire any of the personalities who’d spent the entire election lying to their viewers about how hated and feared Trump is and how loved Kamala Harris was.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the ratings of CNN and MSNBC suffer a long-term drop. I’ve often wondered if Democrats enjoy being lied to by their media figures or if they really don’t know it’s happening. This will tell me. After years of “the walls are closing in” and “Mueller will nail Trump” turning into a greasy nothing burger, there was a dip in the ratings. But viewers soon returned, either assuming the Maddows of the world were wrong and not lying, or they didn’t care they’d been misled because they preferred the lies to reality. This should give us the data necessary to conclude what it is.

While we can learn about them, it’s abundantly clear they have learned nothing.
Democrats losing is the only time it’s worth watching MSNBC, and I’ve been watching a lot of MSNBC in the last 48 hours. It’s been glorious. Not just because of their whining but because it is clear that they have learned absolutely nothing from Kamala’s defeat.
Since Tuesday night, the list of usual suspects has blamed everything from sexism, racism, the patriarchy, homophobia, pretty much everything short of triskaidekaphobia.
They’re right, of course, just not in the way they think they are. The American public is sick to death of this crap – the elevation of victimhood, making it something to aspire to. They’re sick of the division.
Noted race grifter Al Sharpton argued what others on the left have: that Kamala lost because of her gender, skin color, and the fact that she’s in an interracial marriage. No one cares about those things, but that is the lie they have to tell themselves so they don’t lose the ability to use each of those lies to mobilize a mob in the future. It’s sad, really.
After her “concession” speech, MSNBC personalities literally cried on air, and they immediately returned to Trump is a friend to dictators and a fascist, etc. They’re a one-hit-wonder whose only “hit” barely cracked the top 100. Pathetic doesn’t begin to cover it.
I, for one, hope they keep it up. There are few things the American public likes less than being lectured by judgy child genital mutilators claiming the moral high ground because they insist people who are not them must accept things the preeners use their wealth to insulate themselves from. Illegal aliens for thee, not for me.
“Shut up and obey, bigot,” wasn’t a great campaign slogan. Doubling down on it isn't a sign of commitment, sure; it’s more of a sign of stupidity. I’m glad Democrats are, not just because it is stupid but because it shows they have learned nothing. Maybe they can’t bring themselves to, or maybe they’re too stupid to. Either way, it's good.
