I Beg Your Pardon, Mr. President

I have an idea for President Trump: Pardon your enemies. Sounds crazy, I know, but bear with me for a minute. After some context, I’ll explain.

Imagine dedicating your whole adult life to serving your country, then, simply because you support the opposition to the current president, that administration sets out to destroy you. That’s the story of General Michael Flynn, whose only “sin” was working for Donald Trump. Once Trump was elected president, the Obama administration and those loyal to it set out to do as much damage to the incoming administration as humanly possible without their fingerprints all over it; “smooth transitions of power” were not the rage then as the media portrays them to be now.

Under the direction of the FBI director, agents interviewed Flynn for the express purpose of trying to catch him in a lie, any lie, for which he could be charged. The Obama-loyalists cabal wanted a scalp. After initially finding no lies were told, the agents reworked their report to say the opposite, which led to Flynn’s resignation as national security advisor very early in the administration.

After that, the establishment pursued Flynn like he’d killed their dog, financially breaking him with the cost of his defense. Finally, after threatening to revisit the same fate on his son if he didn’t cop a plea to something, he pled guilty to lying to federal agents. The fact that those “lies” weren’t lies and occurred by the design of those agents was of no interest to the cabal of Obama loyalists who manufactured the whole thing while hiding exculpatory evidence from the defense.

You know the story, likely all too well. Once the Justice Department moved to dismiss the charges, a wayward judge refused and fought the concept. This culminated in the pardoning of Flynn by President Trump.

Knowing full well of Flynn’s innocence and the vicious methods used to procure his “guilty” plea did not stop the left from declaring this pardon to be an admission of guilt on Flynn’s behalf. That’s not how pardons work, but Democrats aren’t interested in how things work, or how to be decent human beings; they want destruction.

They groused over the pardon, going so far as comparing President Trump’s granting of it to Nazi Germany, as one member of The New York Times editorial board did, because they have only bloodlust where normal decency usually resides.

Since leftists have spun pardons to be admissions of guilt, I came up with an idea, a way for President Trump to use these people’s actions against them. To stain them with a taste of what they deserve. President Trump should pardon every single one of them.

Yes, as Congressman Matt Gaetz suggested, President Trump should pardon everyone in his administration, including himself. Democrats will hound every one of them until they are broke and/or dead, so taking that off the table wouldn’t be a bad idea.

But more than that, the president should pardon everyone who went after his administration.

Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? It’s not, really.

They’re going to get away with it. We all know they will. No one who signed off on those bogus FISA warrants will ever see justice. The Durham probe is about as efficient as everything else a bureaucracy does, especially when coopted by people whose hearts clearly aren’t in it. If any investigation isn’t completed by the time Joe Biden takes office, it will be dropped immediately.

By preemptively pardoning the Peter Strzoks, Lisa Pages, James Comeys, John Brennans, James Clappers, and the rest of them, it may be the only way the president can permanently tar them with the stigma of their guilt.

In their presidential pardons, Donald Trump can thoroughly and explicitly spell out their crimes – every abuse of power – and make each a part of their public record. They’d hate it. They would, of course, be outraged and try to reject them, but they couldn’t.

Preemptive pardons against crimes they committed, but for which they will never be charged, would be hilarious while providing a permanent, federal record of those crimes.

Imagine the parade of corruption on cable news as those they’ve portrayed as heroes (and paid fortunes to) scrambled to explain why they didn’t need pardons, that they’d done nothing wrong. It might be the only way to shine the light on their crimes, abuses of power and the violations of their fellow Americans' civil rights.

In a weird way, explicit pardons for specific crimes they’ve committed but will never face charges for might be the only way to get any level of justice.
