Both Kinds of Standards – ABC NEWS
Their billionaires don’t count…because you did not count them.
We have all the evidence now that the press plays favorites when it comes to wailing about the money in politics. Notice, for example, how the term “dark money” is mostly invoked with Republicans. Similarly, billionaires donating to candidates are always demonized if they donate to the “wrong” party.
No better testament can be seen than this example on the Wisconsin election for the Supreme Court held on Tuesday. Democrat Susan Crawford was said to have defeated the “Elon Musk-backed Brad Schimel.” Apparently, ABC saw no need to mention that billionaires George Soros, J.B. Pritzker, and Rex Hoffman dumped millions into the Crawford campaign.

- Apparently if they donate in secret that becomes…better?
Small credit to CNN; they at least acknowledged that Susan Crawford Hoovered up Soros dollars as well. But as Kara Swisher explains to Jake Tapper, it is totally different when their billionaire spends on a candidate, as opposed to Elon Musk spending on a candidate – because Soros does not announce it publicly?
Somehow, in her estimation, this makes billionaire spending acceptable. It has nothing to do with spending on a Democrat, not at all, in any fashion.
So it comes out...

Presentation Paradox – TIME MAGAZINE
French lawfare is just as acceptable as U.S. lawfare.
In France, there is a scandal of sorts percolating where the conservative candidate Marine Le Pen has been convicted of embezzlement, a result of a questionable charge where she had aides working in the EU parliament and also for the political party in France at the same time. It is a stretch, as she was not personally profiting but is seen as her workers paid for EU services while doing domestic policy work.
The convenience is that ahead of the 2027 election, she is currently banned from the election and placed on two years house arrest. Convenient, all while she is entitled to appeal. If this sounds like a similar effort made against Donald Trump, that is with due cause; hers is the conservative party in France and appears favored in the upcoming election.
And TIME, in assessing the conviction, declared that the removal of the favored candidate on legal wrangling is “A terrible day for Marine Le Pen – and a good one for French democracy.”
It was a good day for French democracy but the far-right may still win the 2027 presidential election, writes Cole Stanglerhttps://t.co/vlexFV9Ltg

Matching Media Memorandum – POLITICO
One of these days one of these reports will be one of the accurate ones, rest assured.
Since before the inauguration the press has been on a weird mission to develop some type of internal strife in the Trump administration, and usually that has involved Elon Musk. The effort is to build up Musk’s importance and have this become a wedge as it impacts President Trump’s ego.
For the latest, Politico is trying to suggest that Musk is about to depart earlier than expected. The explanation from Rachel Bade is in conflict with itself, saying Trump is pleased with the work Musk is doing, but also the administration sees the man as a loose cannon and a liability to their efforts…somehow. The main issue with her anonymously-sourced report is that a number of administration officials have gone on the record to fully dispute the report.

Reporting on the Mirror – WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS ASSOCIATION
This…this is not a civil rights march, gang.
In a pure sign of a group believing their own hype, the WHCA is in a state of dismay that the White House communications office has decided it will be taking over the role of assigning the seating chart inside the briefing room. This has WHCA members and leaders debating on what course of action to take as a response.
One idea has been to behave like petulant children and refuse to budge, and then to frame this as a brave and bold act on par with Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on the bus:
According to two people familiar with the discussions, among the proposals raised by members was a potential Civil Rights era-style “sit-in” protest, in which members would return to their old seats and refuse to leave them.

He is just angling for the Jim Acosta result, isn’t he?
It was a couple of weeks ago when we reported how Lawrence O’Donnell announced he needed to take a week off because the Trump administration activities just had him worn down and he needed some mental health time.
Well, that was on March 14, and Larry has yet to return to his desk. Now, we learn that he appears to be holding out for a bigger paycheck in a new contract. He is looking for an increase, one on par with Rachel Maddow’s recently restructured deal. This is amazingly stunted, as he is not negotiating from the standpoint of strength. MSNBC has been bleeding viewers, it has recently cut loose talent to save cash, and it has been spun off from Comcast. More than that, Larry is on opposite “Gutfeld!,” which has been surging in popularity, as “The Last Word” is getting stomped in the ratings like a narc at a biker rally.
