Legalized Press-titution – THE COURIER NEWSROOM / DNC

Many people have been wondering why Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has become something of a media fixture in recent weeks, and now we may understand why. Semafor came out with the story that Murphy is leaving his wife and has been dating Tara McGowan, who is a Democratic Party operative working at the fraudulent news syndicate The Courier Newsroom.

This is the collection of sites posing as local news outlets but are, in fact, fake news sites that spit out Democrat-slanted propaganda. This effort was originally started with money from Steve Jobs’ wife, who also owns The Atlantic.

Deadline Gambit – SALT LAKE TRIBUNE

One sure way to know you are being effective is when the press is motivated to conduct hit pieces on you and your work. The force behind the recently popular X account @DataRepublican is finding this out. Jennica Pounds has been the focus of one such piece by reporter Brock Marchant, all because she has gained the attention of Elon Musk's waste spending efforts.

Pounds, who recently went public while she was being doxxed, shared a new experience from this outlet.

In a piece that is oddly entitled “Meet the Utah Software Engineer…” we are fed many details about her, despite the paper never having communicated with the focus of the article. Pounds explained that her husband had been contacted by email, on his business account, late on Saturday night before the piece was rushed into publication on Sunday.

This was clearly not a time-sensitive report, given it is based almost entirely on another Rolling Stone hit piece on Pounds (referenced no fewer than eight times by Marchant), and rolls in details about the husband’s business, although that has no connection to her work at all.

(RFTH reached out to Marchant for comment, but seeing as he never responded by publication, we are free to make assumptions about what his silence means.)

Presentation Paradox – WASHINGTON POST

  • These poor vandals are helpless against Elon’s influence.

We have been getting regular reports of unhinged members of the public who are so politically corrupted that they are committing acts of violence against Tesla owners, vandalizing their vehicles, and committing damage at dealerships. Over the weekend, a Colorado dealership was hit with Molotov cocktails, the firebombing serving as the fifth time that lone dealership has been attacked.

Looking over these crimes committed by unhinged people incapable of separating political positions and social decency, Pranshu Verma comes to a daft conclusion – Elon Musk is to blame:

Frontline Tesla workers and ordinary vehicle owners to bear the brunt of the anger incited by Musk's politics.

Anti-Social Media – THE ATLANTIC

Over the weekend, social media became flooded with memes involving Vice President Vance having his face photoshopped into images. Originally meant to be insulting, it became fun for all, especially after VP JD got in on the action. People on both political sides were enjoying it.

But at The Atlantic, they saw the need to step in and inject unneeded seriousness. They gave a classic “What it all means” think piece, instead of just sitting back and having a good time.

Reporting on the Mirror – WASHINGTON POST

News broke that longtime WaPo columnist Ruth Marcus tendered her resignation, a result of feeling her column has been gutted by the new moderate standards imposed by publisher Jeff Bezos.

Along with her departure, a number of internal realignments have been instituted in the newsroom. Political coverage will be segregated from the National desk, a number of cultural topics will all become fused under one editorial umbrella, and the print edition is now going to be positioned downstream from digital content.
