Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – MSNBC

  • What is it you would say, that you do around here?

It is becoming apparent that the media are very upset about some of the new policies instituted by Donald Trump. In no specific order, those at the top would be deportations, rolling back DEI, cutting down government spending programs, and the threat of imposing tariffs. It’s difficult to pin down which one has them the most mad since each of these reduces the press to shrieking harridans.

Case in point, here is Stephanie Ruhle who really thought she had an own of sorts when Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an order to rescind DEI policies in his state. Her lack of brilliance on the matter is seen by the fact that following her deserved share of mockery, she deleted the post.

Pre-Written Field Reports – CNN

  • Jake’s production team needs to set him up with better questions.

Yet another example of the DEI outrage was seen from Jake Tapper, as he interviewed brand spanking new Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy. Maybe Jake figured he could trap the newly appointed Duffy, because previously he was just a TV news figure. (Except, Tapper is also a TV news figure, sooooo…)

He asked Duffy if there was any proof that DEI was a factor behind what led to the recent D.C. plane crash, a question meant to trap Duffy. Of course, in the logic of the media these days, by not looking into a matter means there is no proof found, therefore, no problem. But Jake also has to admit past stories about the FAA touting its DEI hiring initiatives, and the stark lack of enough air traffic controllers that has been a factor for years now.

But Sean not only availed himself well, he showed the proper way to address these types of slant questions, by calmly delivering sober facts to unravel a media narrative.

Gilded Reframe – CBS NEWS

  • From “There’s no proof” to “The proof is not what we are here to discuss” in a matter of seconds.

On next to the wailing over cutting government waste. Margaret Brennan has been having a tough go of it on “Face the Nation” since Trump took office. This week, she spoke with Rep. Brian Mast of Florida about the cuts being made in the agency USAID and how it is unacceptable to…stop wasteful government spending, we guess. She challenged Rep. Mast on his claim the agency was steeped in DEI and that policy ruled its decisions on spending. Brennan jumped to ask if he had any examples of this claim. She was not prepared for him to have answers at the ready:

MAST: Sure. Let's list them off. Half a million dollars to expand atheism in Nepal. $50,000 to do, let's see, a transgender opera in Columbia. $47,000 dollars to do an LGBTQ trans comic book in Peru. $20,000 a pop to do drag shows in Ecuador. Shall I continue with more examples of where DEI was the priority?

Hit with these disrupting details, Brennan tries to shift the framing, and in the process, manages to grind her gears in desperation:

BRENNAN: Oh, it certainly seems like there could be a review of things. Foreign aid as you know is less than one percent of the entire federal budget so we're talking small amounts of money by comparison.

So it doesn’t exist, then it DOES exist, but it doesn’t really count. So her argument is that there is some wasteful spending that should not be curtailed because it is too small. Oh…kay then.

Legalized Press-titution – THE BULWARK

  • He’s a cheap sellout, says the hooker.

Bill Kristol was at it this weekend by – you’ll be shocked to learn – complaining about Donald Trump. We know, we are just as shocked as you – which is to say, not at all.

Billy was mewling about those cuts at USAID, but he soon realized it was probably a subject he should have veered away from…far, far away from it.

After carping about Trump and saying he prefers the Deep State it was shown why this is. One of Kristol’s money Hoovering outfits — Defending Democracy — is a recipient of funds from the dark money entity Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, which takes in federal grant money from…well, just guess which government agency.

Anti-Social Media – NEWSWEEK

You know what, screw that – screw ALL of that! This is an individual who committed a home invasion, kidnapped the wife to go to a bank and withdraw cash, then at the home bludgeoned the husband, raped the wife and her two daughters, killed them and set the entire house on fire. WE DO NOT GIVE A RAT’S ASS that this pronoun-challenged individual now has access to lady undergarments and makeup in order to live as his true self.

Joshua Rhett Miller needs to reassess his journalism career.
